Couldn't you just leave a redirect or a disambiguation page? I'm not sure why you would cut it, even if there are no wicks. We're not supposed to cut them because of inbounds, I thought.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”I like making the main page a redirect or disambiguation even when there are no inbounds, simply to prevent someone from mistakenly adding a duplicate work page in the Main namespace because they thought we didn't have that work yet.
If we're not supposed to do that, though, then a special type of page like Deboss was suggesting would serve the same purpose.
