Just started the first episode, and I'm already getting Code Geass flashbacks, which is not necessarily a bad thing. If this show ends up even half as hilariously jingoistic as Geass was (and given the whole exposition of how "Japan's bein' all reliant on dem foreign powers -harrumph-" it may very well be), I will be quite entertained. Also the OP is excellent.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!Yeah, I think this was one of those typical "first episode features credits over the action with a long insert song" shows.
Flora Segunda | World Made By Hand | Monster Blood Tattoo ^You should read these series.Episode 2.
Permission to change "Undertaker" to "Funeral Parlor" in the entry?

Well the OP for the first episode is "Euterpe". Episode 2 and on has "My Dearest".
I'd say yes. I was wondering where they got Undertaker to begin with.

Follow me on tumblr! After watching the second episode I am getting some Jerkass vibes from Gai. It wouldn't surprise me if he betrays Funeral Parlour before the end of the series.

I wouldn't say the plot is lacking, but that it isn't really special in any way so far.

Follow me on tumblr!^ I don't even know what people are trying to do yet. 'Sympathetic' terrorist organization is opposing shadowy generic evil authority. Why? The bad guys seem more pointlessly dickish than evil. And what is this disease that the bad guys are trying to fight? Give us some information already.

Hey, not every anime finishes up the exposition in just the first two episodes.

Follow me on tumblr! No, but most anime like to give us an idea of what is actually going on. I'm more inclined to sympathize with the bad guys at this point because I don't know why they're bad guys apart from being kind of dicks. The good guys don't seem any better and are either flat (Inori) or also dicks (Gai) so...
Hey, the first two episodes of the original Last Exile didn't do much aside from introducing the setting and the characters.
Follow me on tumblr!Okay. Either way, I don't like the characters, I don't know why I'm supposed to be the terrorist's side, whenever Inori sings I want to turn the sound off and the plot seems dull.
On the bright side, double jumping multiple times to avoid the missiles was pretty cool and whenever Shu uses his sword things look awesome.

@ Arha: If being flat out dicks, you mean taking innocent people hostage and shooting them to death.
Then there's Blondy that makes Luciano Bradley look like an angel in comparison.
Besides, I didin't see how the Good Guys were so dickish by comparison.
Watch SymphogearThe bad guys dickishness seemed so pointless. It was like waving flags saying "Ignore our reasonable goals! We're evil!" It was so pointless I largely ignored it.
Gai seems like a jerk to me and the story seems to think he's badass. I don't like him. Other than him they all lacked characterization, meaning I judge them by Gai. Inori: ...She sings! And is maybe in love with Shu for some reason! Tsugumi: Genki girl who looks like a slightly bustier Kuroneko! Ayase: Has a crush on the guy I don't like!
Its only the beginning of the series anyway. This is 2 cour, as well, so there at least 24 more episodes to go before the end.
Watch Symphogear

Gai's fighting skills have been established however, he hasn't been established as a Badass (yet; the character may still get this treatment in future).
