I honestly don't know what to say about this show anymore. Now that it's over, I just can't summon any energy towards it.
I'm also an anime blogger.I wasn't expecting the Deus ex Machina. Or was it two? I know I should know better.
Also wasn't expecting the ballet. Other countries don't get much production budget spent on them at all do they? There were like five frames of growing crystal over a static background with a snow effect per location.
The Time Skip seemed like a time saving device more than anything else, but I guess it was interesting to see that even robots can have a family.
I won't give it a score; that might carry the implication that this show deserves anything (or that by virtue of being not zero it's actually not bad). I'll just say: would not rewatch, would not recommend and would not even recall if possible.
Enjoyable, fitting ending. Successful trolling of Arisa-haters and Rowan being Daryl's savior (in more than one way) were favorite parts. Glad that Shu survived the Apocalypse. Another self-sacrifice would have been too cliched. Epilogue not to satisfying, but still nice. Why was Central Korea so dark?
Lazy and pathetic.I'm still scratching my head over why Rowan had to die, and for Daryl of all people. He never did anything even remotely deserving death. He was just...there.
My Megaman and MegaTen RPG LiveblogsOn a non "I did not like this series" note, any thoughts on what Gai was up to finally/the symbolism of him returning to his Funeral Parlor uniform at the end?
deviantArt | TwitterThoughts on the ending! It sure was an ending! I liked it, and was a bit surprised that they managed to wrap up as much as they did.
I am a bit surprised that the Daryl/Tsugumi thing ended up not going anywhere. Though I did kinda like Daryl's thought process of if he killed Tsugumi, he could go back to the heartless person he was before. It's something that someone messed up like him would think. Kinda sad that he wasn't "with the group" in the epilogue. We know we survived, but...not what happened to him afterwards.
Gai and Shu's fight wasn't nearly as cool as Shu and Yu's. Though the class with the Inori/Mana swords was pretty rad. I also just noticed that Gai and Shu ended up with Virus infections in the same places, and with not natural arms on the same side. Add that Gai ended up clad in white, and Shu in black. Man, how did I not notice that before? It's a nice touch.
So the memory of Gai hugs the memory of Mana, they turn into crystals, then the real Mana turns back into Inori? I wouldn't have been surprised there was meant to be a more climatic confrontation between Shu, Mana, and maybe even Gai, but it got cut for time. Oh well. The episode was filled with stuff anyway, so I am not that upset about it.
I do wonder just what would happen afterwards. Would Daath just take it sitting down? Or would they begin preparing for the next chance to remake the world? I guess having Yu warp out and the threat of Daath still around would leave a way for a sequel if they wanted to make one.
The group celebrating Hare's birthday in the epilogue was pretty cute.
Overall, I know this show is flawed, and I probably wouldn't count this as one of the best anime I've ever seen, but I had a good time watching it, and I found it enjoyable for what it was.
I assumed it represented the fact that the real him never actually accepted his fate as Adam and always intended for Shu to take it from him. He just wanted to save Mana, the same motivation he had back in Funeral Parlor.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.That was a pretty good episode to end it all. As for the series itself the only real issues I have are the pacing and some of the characters. If they had more time they probably could have fixed that though. Overall I'd give it a 7/10. It wouldn't be my first recommendation but if asked if it was worth watching I'd definitely say it is.
Face Palm to the ending. I know that others liked it, but it left so many loose threads hanging. Did Daryl die or not? Why did the writers ship tease Daryl with Tsugumi if they were never going to do anything with the pairing?
My overall opinion: Meh.
I think the overall implication was that the elevator shipped Daryl off to safety, but it would have been nice to see him afterwards. Maybe during the credits sequence? I just realized that we have no clue what happened to anyone not in the main cast. What did happen to Daryl, Haruka, Argo, Arisa, Number Two Guy and so on after a "few years later" anyway? However, I felt the episode was full of stuff already, so I can let them leave a few things out.
As for the Daryl/Tsugumi ship, I think his whole trying to kill Funeral Parlor during these last two episodes is primarily motivated by him trying to reject his feelings for Tsugumi because he is nuts and thinks that killing her will make the feelings just magically go away. Or that is the impression I got, with the whole "if I kill you runt, I can go back to being Kill'em All Daryl again" bit.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Oddly enough it was Rowan helping Daryl that provoked the strongest reaction from me.
Otherwise... for a final episode it was pretty bland. Wasn't even that funny, except for that narmy ballet part.
If I had to describe this series, I'd say, "I'd love to work with the premise". It's exactly the kind of thing that drives me to write fanfic.

Agreed. There are a lot of interesting ideas that they really just never got around to addressing, like just where that first crystal came from and what that not!World of C was supposed to be. Plus the characters. It's just ripe for a fanfic reimagining really.
deviantArt | TwitterBy the first crystal you mean the source of the Apocalypse Virus? It was implied pretty early on and all but outright stated during the flashback episode that it was a meteor from outer space.
The finale...well it wasn't as good some of the better episodes in the series, but it wasn't as bad as some of the worst. Just a little underwhelming and anticlimactic. The show definitely could've used one or two more episodes to let the finale breath a little more. Since the show's execution and charactetization flaws have been brought up countless times before, I'd say that, as far as the plot itself is concerned, the show's two main flaws were that its metaphysics weren't explained all that well, or at least comprehensively, and the relationship that the whole thing revolves around...wasn't developed well at all.
My Megaman and MegaTen RPG LiveblogsI've always been confused about that; does that refer to the fact that it's a twenty-five episode series, or was there going to be a Guilty Crown R2?
deviantArt | TwitterI have heard conflicting things on that. Either it was planned for two seasons, or for two some other industry term that I can't recall at the moment, and people misquoted it as two seasons.
Although having two seasons instead of trying to fit everything into one might have been better. Who knows?
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Not to be rude, but I'm going to have to ask for a source. I think they said that they planned for two cours (I think that is the term?) but were misquoted as saying they planned for two seasons.
Of course, if they did plan for two seasons, then I say eh. The second half of the show was much better than the first, though I did feel it was a bit rushed at times, and some things didn't get explored as much as I thought they would. (The Daryl subplot was rushed, and the Arisa subplot was seemingly dropped entirely)

Wow, things kinda went full-on Evangelion there for a bit didn't they.
I...am honestly still not entirely sure what's going on there. You know, with Gai and Daryl apparently being a good person somehow despite also being a mass murdering psychopath and Inori somehow being a flower that also contained a Void and...yeah.
It left me with a lot of questions is all I'm saying here.
