oh there are a few (Unlucky Everydude, The Everyman) however when applied to fighting, racing and such like the others can everyone is usually special in some way or The Loser Is You. (now a good all-rounder can appear in places like baseball with good stats but not great in anything but thats usually combined with playing more than one spot.)
This trope is defined by stats only.
The Everyman even says.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!TRS is even more dysfunctional than usual, if it has to be done like that...
Isn't that another problem? The fact that there are three or four tropes basically about the same concept, phrased slightly differently.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username. Not really they are very distinct and are different.
- Standardized Leader is just your generic good Leader / Hero nothing actually special about them besides they know how to lead.
- Heroic Mime is the generic follower type who doesnt say anything besides what you make him say (if that's even possible.)
- The Mario is avg stats nothing special about their skills.
- AFGNCAAP aka the Ageless Faceless Gender Neutral Culturally Ambiguous Adventure Person is where they might as well be invisible. (most of the time they are invisible or absolutely faceless or featureless.)
Also there are Normal People and The Generic Guy. Ridiculously Average Guy.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!@20 A few observations, as someone who deals with tons of games:
The reason you won't see as many examples of a Stone Wall is because they're tremendously unpopular for play. Combining a long time to drain its health with not much of an ability to drain health itself, they frequently come down to a waiting game in play. Occasionally, you'll see someone abuse that (I've done this in Pokemon Tournament Play; Shuckle does a great job at both resisting opponents and causing errors due to frustration), but it's tremendously unpopular for most players. Mighty Glacier is generally taken as the more popular option, since it can at least dish it out as well.
Also, even in games where there are multiple options, the game might not have The Mario. It's not uncommon to have each character have their own specialty, thereby making nobody the "middle of the road" character. This is largely because such characters do tend to hit into the Master of None issue, so neglecting to add such a character is not unusual.
Also, if there are only two choices, neither will qualify, since the middle ground would be between said two.
As such, these two are, simply by design, the two most likely to be left off a roster. Their comparative weak performance has less to do with the health of its usage on the wiki and more for development trends in the game industry itself.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. This trope desperately needs a rename, in my opinion.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Is anyone going to do a real wick check, more than just 10 wicks? That's not enough of a sample.
I've never seen this misused. I've heard it being used out in the real world to refer to balanced characters. I see no reason this needs a rename.
But, if a wick check proves misuse, I'll vote for a rename. I just don't think that's going to happen.
You'd think that after what... 7 tries to rename this trope, the mods would finally just cave in and allow it. Misuse be damned.
I believe you, but that's anecdotal evidence. We're going to need numbers and examples.
Other than that, yep. Misuse misuse misuse. Also, misuse. I think by this point it should be obvious that whether this is a necessary condition to rename is a point of contention around here.

Pretentious quote || In-joke from fandom you've never heard of || Shameless self-promotion || Something weird you'll habituate toIsn't the opposite? After many tries with the same conclusion, we should just lock this damn thing unless it brings new information.
As for ore coplete wick check, check the other threads. I believe there were some in at last one of them.
...Except that it's named after a character, and tropes named after characters are not allowed under most circumstances.
Unless they're working. Some character named tropes that aren't working get to keep their names. Xanatos Gambit had horrific misuse for a long time (and arguably still does), but we spent time repairing it rather than just rename it. Why rename something that actually is working?
Although I could get behind turning The Mario into a redirect, and The Mario Character into the main name.
Sadly, you're wrong. It used to be that way for a short while, but then the current Trope Renaming Guidelines were installed. They say that whether a trope is character-named, or in Swahili, is not a valid argument for renaming in and of itself; these are just guesses for why there's misuse, in case you've found misuse, which is the only valid criterion by which a name can be declared broken.

Pretentious quote || In-joke from fandom you've never heard of || Shameless self-promotion || Something weird you'll habituate toI still say that even if the trope is working, if it keeps being attempted to be renamed time after time after time x infinity, then there is something fundamentally wrong with the name.
That does not necessarily follow, although it happens to be true in this case.
Pretentious quote || In-joke from fandom you've never heard of || Shameless self-promotion || Something weird you'll habituate toSo if every month I make a thread about renaming uhhh Fanservice after 8 months we will do it? (not serious btw)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!No, because that's stupid. We'd know it was in bad faith and shut it down. The current guidelines do perhaps overemphasize misuse, but the simple fact that a trope keeps getting put up for rename indicates a problem with it that needs to be acknowledged.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"@Triple Elation: Wait a minute, it says this right there!
I'm for rename.
Fight smart, not fair.Jesus Christ, is this is the fifth time we tried to rename this?
Anyone else think just renaming it to The Mario Character would be a good compromise?
Ah what the hell, I'll jump on the bandwagon too. Rename. The only reason this hasnt been changed is because its old. The redirects are clearer, misuse be damned.
^No, because that sounds like its about mario ripoffs.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...That wouldn't solve the problem people have with it at all. Well, most of the people here seem to want a rename. Should we have the single proposition crowner? It seems to be the season for drudging up old topics and finally dealing with them.
Crown Description:
Whether to rename The Mario. There's a long discussion in the forums you may want to read first.
No, since it's not really been misused.
However, I really hope that Fast Eddie shows up and pulls the Word of Mod card or something. Please?
