Well-meaning but somewhat naive. Yeah, tons of gamers would be pissed off but Marvel's also shown they have the ability to have a hugely successful franchise without the x-Men once before. Plus if there really is an MCU focus as rumored that'd indicate they're going for a younger or more casual audience to begin with.
I hope the X-Men will be included but it honestly would not shock me at all if they aren't. There's a limited number of roster slots and Marvel has already generated a ton of successful new character IP in the 5 years since the last game.
I guess if we're going to have a story mode written by Marvel writers, it should be a writer from The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. That show was awesome.
Really though, Classic!Mega Man or Mega Man X for the hypothetical MVC4?
reboot
oh no
the timeless continuity of Versus series
Also yes still don't listen to anything about Max says
The reboot is supposed to be for the sake of the gameplay, going back to the older Marvel vs Capcom 1 style of two characters and additional assist only characters. While i'm unsure about the title being rebooted (And I hate game reboot titles that are just the original game's title) I could very well see a gameplay reboot. Street Fighter V tried to streamline it's mechanics and attempt something like SF III after all.
Also, there wasn't anything that felt like talking out of his ass in that Max video. He was just reporting on rumours he had heard and adding some of his own thoughts that were all subjective. At no point did he state them as facts.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...It's possible to focus on the MCU without excising the X-Men.
LEGO Marvel Superheroes is a bit dated now that LEGO Avengers exists, but while it mostly used MCU characters when possible, the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and other folks who hadn't shown up in the MCU at the time were still present as just their usual comic book selves.
(Which led to the hilarity of having classic Mandarin, Aldrich Killian, and Trevor Slattery's Mandarin all at the same time. The former two even serve as a Dual Boss at one point)

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Lego Marvel is a game with tons and tons and tons of characters, though. Most of the Lego games delight in including as many characters - obscure or otherwise - as humanly possible. In contrast, fighters are series that have a small selection of characters, leading to crossovers like this one being highly representative of what's popular at the time - or more generally what their parent companies want to give a nod to.

Angry Joe. When he reviewed Marvel vs Capcom 3 he made note of how barebones it was compared to Mortal Kombat 9. The inevitable reason was "Don't need it!"

As for the X-Men...yeah, this is a tough choice. I want them but I get it if Marvel tells them no. Not expecting Fanstastic Four characters either.
