I started with the original, so I'll say start there.
A lot of people will say you should start with Heartcatch.

last.fmPersonally, I'd say to start with whichever one sounds most appealing to you, since that way you're likely to get a good first impression of the franchise. At least, that's how I started out. I usually like stories with more main characters, so Yes Pretty Cure 5 was my first choice and it is definitely one of my favorites in the Pretty Cure franchise and thus was a good choice for giving myself a good first impression of Pretty Cure. I then went on to enjoy all the Pretty Cure series, although I do have my favorites. So maybe look at some things that are themes and/or characters in each series and choose to start with which one sounds most appealing to you, whatever your tastes may be (I can only speak for myself when I say what I like).
I also like the idea of starting at the beginning, although only Futari Wa Pretty Cure and Yes Pretty Cure 5 have second series that follow with the same characters and continuity (Max Heart and Precure 5 Gogo, respectively). Watching Heartcatch first won't spoil anything if you then choose to watch Splash Star next, for example (Heartcatch came out later but is a separate story from Splash Star, using those examples). So it might be fun to watch them in order but it wouldn't be confusing to watch them out of order since each series is pretty much its own story (aside from the two with sequels).

I think I'll watch Heartcatch first. Only because the animation kind of reminds me of Casshern Sins.
I'll watch the first series next.

GUNDAMU GUNDAMUJust so you know, here's how things stand in terms of translations:
- Futari Wa Pretty Cure: Fully Translated
- Futari Wa Pretty Cure Max Heart: Fully Translated
- Futari Wa Pretty Cure Splash Star: Fully Translated
- Yes Precure 5: Not Translated
- Yes Precure 5 Go Go: Not Translated
- Fresh Precure: Partially Translated
- Heartcatch Precure: Fully Translated
- Suite Precure: In Progress, most recent episode to air is 22
All the movies I believe have been translated.
I have seen, in their entirety, the First, Splash Star, Heartcatch and am current on Suite.

Yes Pretty Cure 5 is currently being translated ; they're up to #30 (out of 49). And there are translations of the first few episodes of Go Go going around.
Okay, I've watched the first seven episodes of Heartcatch! and I'm really liking it so far.
My reactions so far:
- The ending theme is.....ugggghhhh, though the fact that it pretty catchy almost makes up for it.
- The Desertrian's voices are pure Narm.
- Kumojaki is awesome.
- What happened to Cure Moonlight? Is she dead or something?
- What the heck is up with Coppe?

Well Magical Girl shows are the gender equivalent to Sentai shows (I think) so I think you may like it....
