Also, another cool idea is having the farmland around the farmhouse available for expansion. So, as winter comes forward in the RP, characters could build a greenhouse or such. Since it's basically freedom towards the players, so they can do whatever they wish. (As long as it's reasonable.) Characters could also do things like reinforce the house or even wrap barbwire around the fence as a way of defending the house.
Just a few ideas I'm throwing out here. It seems like a good idea for a RP, but honestly I want to know if anyone would be interested in something like this.

This idea intrigues me. I've always been a sucker for Character Development rather than fighting all the time (not that I don't like fighting).
I also like the idea of having The Horde as a Hive Mind-like entity.
Color me interested.
This sounds like something I'd be interested in doing.
One thing that might be cool: Have the Horde be a sockpuppet account. Whenever the GM wants there to be an attack, a random player can be PM'd to take control of the puppet. That way, only the GM and the player in question know who the Horde is.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Name:
Gender:
Age: (I suggest 18-60)
Occupation: (Keep all military occupations to a low. Including police officers.)
Description:(Small description for your character.)
Brief Biography: (Don't spill your character's whole life story here. You can do that in the actual RP.)
Traits: (Calm, Hot-headed, Investigative, etc...)
Other(s): (List whatever you it is that you want to detail here; chronic health problems, addictions, even disabilities.)
The Lay of the Land is next.
Keep your characters realistic. In a situation like this IRL,(not that anything like this will ever happen, mind you.)you will most likely be with people who hold actual jobs and act like actual people.
Not sword-wielding maniacs with colorful hair.

Farmhouse: The farmhouse is a simple three story tall rural hideout that stands alone on a desolate dirt road. The land around it is very small, but is still open enough for some expansion. The house itself is a excellent structure to barricade and enforce.
Points of Interest (P.O.I): The Owner is apparently a hunter of sorts. The Hobby Room on the second floor holds a vast majority of taxidermy and has a gun cabinet that holds only four guns. Two rifles, and two shotguns. The first floor of the farmhouse has many windows, so barricades will be needed. There is also a closet beside the staircase on the first floor that was used as a storage for tinned food.
Farmland: Though small for a farm, the land around the Farmhouse is open enough for several expansions. A sturdy wooden fence lines the parameter of the lot and offers some protection against the waves of undead.
P.O.I: The Northwest corner of the lot just touches the edge of a woodland area that leads to a swamp. The Fence is sturdy enough to hold off the undead, but will collapse if too many are present; it can be strengthened by re-enforcing it. The land is fertile enough to support a small garden, but expect some struggle maintaining it.
Wind Shelter: A small shelter used for severe weather. Has a large steel door, and is located just beside the Farmhouse. Hasn't been used in a while, so the Owner has been using it for storage.
P.O.I: The door is strong enough to hold off a wave of undead, but the interior of the shelter is extremely cramped so seeking shelter in here is not advised; unless you want to go crazy while watching the faces of the undead press against the glass of the door. The shelter gets chilly at night, and even colder in the winter months; can be used as a makeshift freezer if the temperature can be lowered enough.
Barn/Shed/Silo: A large barn that has a second story loft. The barn has seen better days, but holds vital parts for the expansion of the farm. The Barn has been used as a garage for several vehicles that have rusted from age. The tin shed at the back holds the numerous tools needed to build, and expand the farm. The Silo is empty.
P.O.I: The Barn's loft can be used as a makeshift safeheaven if needed, however you may get trapped above if the undead pile around the bottom. The shed is NOT SUGGESTED as a shelter, as it is made of tin metal and will collapse under the hands of the undead. The Silo can be used to reach the roof of the barn and can be used for a look out point. However, same as the Barn's Loft...you may find yourself trapped if the Infected pile around the bottom.

Ah, then this shall do:
Name: Armando Lockheart
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Occupation: Electronics store manager
Description: Fair skinned, young Latino man, with a weak and scrawny build. Has a buzz cut and appears somewhat effeminate due to strict grooming. His eyes are small and he wears glasses. He wears casual business attire, a white button-up shirt and slacks. In short, one of those nondescript store workers you wouldn't spare a second glance in most circumstances.
Brief Biography: Older brother of Maria, the eldest of a five child family of a hybrid Latino/European family. Worked from an early age, especially hard when Maria came around. The outbreak separated Armando and Maria from the rest of their family.
Traits: Somewhat weak willed and easily pushed around, lacks initiative. Tends to obsess over minor details for long periods of time. Quiet. Very protective of his little sister, however.
Other(s): N/A
Name: Maria Lockheart
Gender: Female
Age: 9
Occupation: N/A
Description: Frail, pale, and gaunt for her age. Virtually skin and bones in appearance. She constantly has a tired countenance, with dark circles under her eyes. Her dark hair is long and unkempt, her clothes somewhat faded and equally disheveled. Looks like the splitting image of a street urchin, in short.
Brief Biography: Youngest in the Lockheart family. Was born a sickly child, and constantly attacked by various diseases that left her confined to her household. Thus, Maria has never actually attended school in her life, and rarely saw anybody besides her family. Only recently managed to make a recovery in full from her state.
Traits: Cheerful and upbeat in spite of her condition- when she can afford the energy to be. Somewhat naive in that, especially since she doesn't really know how to deal with others, having been sheltered from a young age.
Other(s): Has to spend a lot of time resting and needs a lot of special medication.

All those ... moments will be lost... in time, like... tears... in rain.

(NOTE: The title of this RP is now, "Necrophobia".)
Would anyone like to join a RP that is set during the beginnings of a zombie outbreak? More so, the RP will be mainly set in on a lonesome farmhouse (à la Night of the Living Dead.) with the characters being trapped within it's parameters.
The RP could be very open, and basically driven on character developments along with the ever-present drama of the undead at the doorsteps. I figured it would be cool to see an RP that revolves more around the actual characters than it does to gore. Mind you, there will be action of course.
I was also wondering if anyone would be interested in playing as The Horde. (A sudden and often large amount of undead that is controlled by a single player.) This means, the player can control the horde in ways that a horde of NP Cs would fail at. (Find another way into the Farmhouse when an attempt fails.) The Horde will tirelessly attack the Survivors until every last undead is disposed off. The Horde will attack at random times, with random size. They will attack swiftly, and with brute force so it's sort of a way of causing tension amongst players. The Horde won't attack constantly, so there will be times for characters to rest and load up before going at it again.
Only one player may control the Horde, but may also have a human character in the main RP.
