Oh yeah, that's another I used to frequent (if you can't tell by my current avatar) waaaay back in middle school. I even got a bumper sticker from them when they were giving those out, though I lost it.

And some of those shitty Flash games. I remember loving that Sponge Bob Squeaky Boots one.
NO TREE FOR ME (ALSO LOVES HER BOYFRIEND)![]()
Honestly, I can't say I ever visited (or even knew about) Cracked when it was like that. I still don't even go on their forums. What was it like then?
Ohh, I remember those. I remember I once started a Fairly Odd Parents fanfic on there that made absolutely no sense but I just thought it was the greatest thing ever.
I was more of a Cartoon Network goer (regarding the games) myself, though. There was this one detective-ish game, the music of which is eternally burned into my brain. And any of the Cartoon Cartoon crossover games (especially Bean Bag Tag) rocked.

Terrible poster.Wikipedia is the very first website I frequent when we first got Internet. It was responsible for my turning into a comic book nerd. You see, I didn't read comic book much, but I am pretty interested in the superhero mythos in general. So I would go to Wikipedia and spend the whole day reading its article on Spider-Man and his supporting characters. Thanks to the site, I ended up knowing a lot about the DC and Marvel universes without having read a single comic book in my life.
Coming back after several years, Wikipedia has cut a lot of its interesting article on superheroes. I miss the time when we can find out just about everything single trivia on the site.
First of all, the first internet forum I ever went on? FUCK THEM, FUCK THEM TO HELL, THAT SHIT WAS MY PERSONAL VIETNAM AND ONLY MY SHRINK KNOWS WHAT WENT DOWN IN THAT HIZZLE.
Second of all, Homestar Runner makes me nostalgic for when I was far less jaded and thought that Strong Bad was mean and horrible but now I find him funny because he's realistically rendered in a saccharine world of people with no arms.
I barely remember Newgrounds, but there was a lot of stuff making fun of Britney Spears at the time, as well as flash games where you murder Pikachu on sites like Heckler.
Oh, and HAMPSTERDANCE.com. IT WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU. YOU SIMPLY LEAVE IT. BY DYING.
Hell Hasn't Earned My TearsI remember back before Homestar Runner sucked...
And back before the Homestar Runner fan forum I used to hang out on sucked.
Well, they both suck now. Oh well.
I still have quite a few of the friends I made there, though, so there's that.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone. The first site I ever joined period was Barbie.com. The first forum I joined was this site called gURL.com in 2005 (in fact they still send me newsletters for some reason). I've had internet since the 90's, but that was when I first got DSL and was actually able to load pictures and stuff. It was an advice forum for girls and had a forum for everything under the sun. It also was the best example of The Grand List Of Forum And Community Laws ever. I shit you not it was almost like a parody of stereotypical forums.

I remember being such a noob back then. We only got internet into our house around year 05/06 but I've learned a lot of things since then. At first I was like, "oh, a forum, what's that?" and stuff like that. I was generally fascinated by this strange web thingy. Sometimes I had no idea just what the hell I was doing. I made tons of accounts I never used nor can I actually remember what they were for anyway.
The first forum I joined was Advent Children.net. Ya know, before the entire thing collapsed under its own weight and died a very miserable death. And I don't really miss it... nor the forum they built in its place sometime later. I guess getting myself a MSN buddy was one of the few good things that came out of it. It's been about three years now.
I generally stay away from forums and most social communities. TV Tropes is the only exception I was willing to make.

"Liar liar on the wall, give the world to me..."The first "real" community site I was on? Mew's Hangout Oekaki.
It doesn't exist anymore. Everyone was so nice there, even though my art was (and still is, in comparison) total crap. I also made my first online friend, a girl in Germany by the name of Angel Wolf who I really, REALLY wish I still knew.
EDIT: The person who founded it is still on DA
, but they haven't posted anything since 2006.
Their site no longer exists.
Now I'm all sad. ;_;

~PirkaBioware Social Network. The Kot OR boards, in particular. That was followed up by a roleplay site by the name of Star Wars Roleplay Central, and later a place called SSLF. From there I ended up on Tv Tropes (joined Tv Tropes like 3 days after I left SSLF (because I was spending too much time on the net, natch)).
Against all tyrants.I remember Xoom being a major free web host and Alta Vista being the best search engine.
(and reading ads in PC magazines for Bulletin Board Systems)
"That said, as I've mentioned before, apart from the helmet, he's not exactly bad looking, if a bit...blood-drenched." - juancarlosAround 96-97 I would go to the library and marvel at the ability to look up stuff on The Simpsons or Calvin and Hobbes. Then when we got it at around 98, I was hooked on Daria fansites- Planet Daria, The Lawndale Commons forum, and a whole host of small but awesome fansites.
I also remember certain teen girl forums and sites like gURL, and this one called Just Smile And Act Nice. I recall I vented once about how much Korn sucks, and got such a negative response I never went back.
I also remember the glory days of Napster in the year 2000. Oh how wondrous it was to have any song I want and not have to wait for it on the radio! The drawback was the possibility of of getting a corrupted file with some sort of freaky noise.
Emperor Wu liked cake, but not exploding cake!the first forum I ever went on? PS 2 forums a loooong time ago. I was about 10 or 11. I was such an idiot back then so we will mention no more of that
the second forum I ever went on? we will, again, mention no more of that, not even its name, though it does still exist and is still a terrible place. No, it's not any of the various Internet hellholes you can think of, it's not that much of a well-known one but aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Third forum I went on was healthy, though slowly declining, and I intended to go back and take another look round, but it's been 'down for maintenance' for about a month now. Which isn't that promising, really
then there's /mu/, frequented every now and again, which is only good for sharethreads and the rest of it is singularly bad.
We don't speak of my first forums. I was quite the idiot back then and a whiny brat. I also had the writing skills and creativity of a rock. Ooh... terrible, terrible memories.
The emotions of others can seem like such well guarded mysteries, people 8egin to 8elieve that's how their own emotions should 8e treated.

So, I just found out that the site TR's Rockin' was shut down by its owner. TR's Rockin', for those who didn't know, was a rather popular site for information on Pokemon glitches (especially those of Red and Blue), at one point in time even being the number one site for this kind of info on the web. Despite how the site waned in popularity in its later years (particularly due to focusing less and less on Pokemon and more and more on cosplaying), it still remained a pretty cool site, if only for the wealth of informative—and, at times, hilarious (the articles of bootlegged stuff)—articles contained within.
For me, it was all that AND the site that contained one of the first forums I ever became well-integrated into. I stopped going on the forums about four years ago* , but I was still sad to see the site go. That site was where most of my preteen and early adolescent years were spent, making custom Pokemon sprites, talking about Pokemon glitches, me and one other member pretending we were in love with each other* …all great fun (in my young mind).
Another older site I was sad to see go (and was still active in at the time of its destruction) was TV Tome, which was bought out by...someone (I think CNET) and turned into TV.com. I was the moderator of the Arthur page (co-moderating with Agent0042, who I believe is also a member here), so I was mostly pissed not to have that power to be drunk with anymore.
TL;DR Version: The websites of my youth are all gone, boo-hoo, what are some of the sites you frequented in your early internet experience that are gone now?
(P.S.: I would also mention Cartoon Network's Cartoon Orbit, but that kinda sucked in retrospect.)
