@Ironypus Sarutobi told the ninja do not attack the jinchuriki, he told the same to the civilians, the idiots chose to not obey and that is their punishment, they endagered the whole village.
The same applies to the second, Sarutobi is well aware of the plans for a coup, the attemp on Naruto's life made him change of plans, sparing the younger and untainted generation allows for a better clan to be born of the ashes of the previous one, it also sends a message, he does not forgives idiocy on an open manner,
Executing traitors should be a thing he can do, but ordering a near genocide without properly vetting the citizenry is Bad. It's where Danzo went wrong too, sure a lot of them were planning a coup because they were suspected of causing the Nine Tails attack, but if he's taking a harder stance from the beginning he should be able to do something to sooth the resentment before it gets to a revolt.
@Ironypus what i was thinking is that by the time Naruto gets taught the SF the situation is bad, it's just a few weeks away of Danzo ordering Itachi to execute the clan, Sarutobi was willing to play peacemaker until an Uchiha comes in and nearly kills Naruto, there is no way of interrogating the uchiha because the shinigami devoured the soul of the man in place of Naruto.
Given the hostility of the Uchiha, the demands and now this recent attack towards the Jinchuriki leads Sarutobi to think that the clan is trying to cover up evidence in case a Yamanaka is asked to try and contact the Kyubi.
I am aware my reasoning is not solid so i want suggestions on solidifying it.
Oh and thanks for the feedback.

@IANCE thats a stupid idea, chances are for every fallen Uchiha an other will awaken Mangekyo which means access to Amateratsu, moon reader, suanoo, Izanagi, Izananmi and possibly unique relases such as the blaze style that sasuke has, genjutsu like Shinsui has or worse, so let them launch the coup? thats a stupid idea

Or, given that the requirement is to do the deed yourself, none of them ever awaken the Mangekyo, since they're not killing each other, but rather being killed.
Plus, in a logical universe, just because they have spiffy new eye techniques doesn't mean they can use them, let alone well.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariWith the requirements of unlocking the Mangekyo being to experience the trauma of losing your most precious person, it isn't that hard to believe many more of them unlocked them at various points. The anime episode that had a bunch of them misusing Izanagi is pretty good, on that count.
Most likely they knew about it, but it was kept a closely-guarded secret and anyone who unlocked it would be warned of its dangers. No one knew about the Eternal Mangekyo, and knowledge of the Tablet was likely passed down from Clan Head to Clan Head. Most of them just didn't bother reading it, or thought it was nonsense.
It also explains why the Police immediately question Itachi after Shisui's death, despite them being best friends.
EDIT:
Shisui threw himself off a cliff, and Izuna/Madara most likely gained it after the loss of their brother.

There's no reason for them not to know about the Eternal since Madara got it shortly Konoha was even founded, and it wasn't kept that secret since IIRC Sasuke was told a little bit about it when he asked his dad.
They also actively murdered one another in the hope of getting it.

When did he ask his dad?
Them knowing about the Mangekyo makes sense, but I can't see them letting everyone know "HEY IF YOU MURDER YOUR CLOSE KIN AND SHOVE THEIR EYES INTO YOUR SKULL YOU BECOME JESUS".
Either that or the Uchiha clan had a lot more restraint than we give them credit for. Minus Sasuke.
EDIT:
It's the majority of Uchiha, however. Shisui didn't kill Itachi, but he had them. Izuna didn't kill Madara, Madara didn't kill Izuna or Hashirama. The only Uchiha who did get it by killing their close kin is Sasuke, and him being Itachi's cause of death is debatable.

Oh god the Naka shrine tablet is so dumb now. The Sage made it to teach Indra's line about not being a bunch of shits, but you can only read a little bit of it with regular Sharingan and then the thing fucking tells you how to get the next stage to read more; murder the person you're closest to.
I don't know how to grade that level of failure. It's like Hags got -1 on a test with one question, 1+1=? only worse.
@IANCE that is because there are no other characters to use, and i dont remember did Sasuke snuck on Konoha, read the tablet and the went all the way back to Iron to kill Danzo? because if not then the MS powers are instinctive.
@Ironypus i have a theory on that, the tablet is meant to show something different but given than Indra's eyes oddly resemble the Juubi's eyes i assume the information that is read is corrupted.

@Karnality, latest chapter shows it was the sage who made it and it seems naruto and sasuke will attain some of the power of the sage of the six paths, naruto being the sun and sasuke the moon, along with possibly naruto becoming jinchuriki of a pseudo juubi.
Oh and the byakugan does comes from the family of the sage of the six paths, it comes from her mother, so the Hyugas are related to the Uchiha and Senju.
Nope. Latest chapter reveals it was the Sage himself that made it. Except it wound up being Don't Do This Cool Thing.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariAnd it's hilarious that this is probably a saving throw to try to hide the other idiot ball he'd been holding when he gave his megalomaniac son obsessed with power the stronger power (his eyes) and then declared the younger one his successor anyway.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariIn MS translation it was Indra and his descendants that added hints to Hagoromo's monument and he said the monument's meaning was lost.
What. Hagoromo didn't had control over which genes his children inherited.

Izanagi requires Senju DNA so it wouldn't be usable and Izanami isn't practical in fight.
As Obito shown agains Kiri ninja berseker rage trumps that logic.

That's some hardcore Bloody Mist Yagura style shit pushing real close to villain territory.
