—rubs hands together— My crappy stubborn refuses-to-change sword fighter is nearly complete, then. I guess I need to find a single bladed sword for him to use when the time comes.
TO THE INTERNET.
Read my stories! You have a lot of selection there, AHR.
Pretty much anything from the Middle East and further East than that, for instance.
月を見るたび思い出せI know. Everytime I take a wiki walk, I see so many cool weapons, I want to make a character for each one *_*
Read my stories!@Erock: Viking fencing schools definitely existed. They were small and community-specific, but Vikings would take time out to learn particulars of sword techniques that would still be relevant almost one-thousand years later. Every now and again, a tidbit of how they did things shows up in their myths and the like, and it's rarely too ridiculous as to be unbelievable.
The technological genius of Viking (and Germanic in general) swords implies that they had very advanced methods of using them. Swords of their caliber were not worth the effort unless that was a martial underpinning that made them a better option than spears and axes.

Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchNOT TAKING THE BAIT BLACKMOON TRY HARDER >:(
Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchOptimization wise, this would make sense. Well, if I was doing optimization...I would have an entirely different build to him. This is a character I want to have a crappy style that he makes work, however shoddily and horribly so, just because of how much he refuses to change. Kinda like those people who manage to type pretty fast using only two fingers, even though they are still way slower than anyone who just uses all fingers.
He is also incredibly off balanced, having his knees bent inwards, and stuff.
I am going to soooo enjoy having him be beaten the crap out of many many times.

Read my stories!@Alex: Oh, if you mean that by fencing, then I can belive that. I always see fencing as epee.
If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.^^ That could work. You could have him use a double-ended sword if you like. Poorly optimised as a weapon, but with marvelous potential.

Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchAll right. Hell, now that I know he can get his arm sliced open, I could so marvelously exploit that.

Read my stories!I'm thinking of investing in shortswords.
And going for the kali school.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeCan't blame ya there.
I'm of Austrian descent, and I can't claim that didn't factor into my choice of German swordsmanship.
Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchIt's one of the reasons why I want to go to Cebu.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeAlex, can you tell me what major schools of European swordsmanship exist and what are their characteristics?
The sin of silence when they should protest makes cowards of men.Madass: That mean I should learn Arabian-style swordfighting? :P
Actually, that would be pretty interesting. :/
I wanna get into fencing. :3 Just not right now, though. I was in Sport fencing for a bit but not anymore.
ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅ ᐊᑕᐅᓯᖅ ᓈᒻᒪᔪᐃᑦᑐᖅThere is a sword called "Bilbo"
Googling this gets me pictures of Bilbo's sword.
THANKS A LOT.

月を見るたび思い出せI'm actually half-Danish, I just like Scandinavia and the World.

"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeErock: Considering how many wars they've had, yes they are pretty bloody! :P
ᐅᖃᐅᓯᖅ ᐊᑕᐅᓯᖅ ᓈᒻᒪᔪᐃᑦᑐᖅThis double-edged sword looks pretty cool◊ which is more important than you think, when it comes to picking the proper one.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THESE ARE BUT I NEED TO MAKE SOMEBODY USE THESE NOW.
Read my stories!Hardy har har har.
@Kink: Denmark-Norway-Sweden > both of those. Kalmar Union ftw.
2kg isn't too heavy. I could see a football player using one of those one handed, though the balance would be awful.

Alex I don't think the Vikings would have "fenced". Keep in mind they used a shield and their sword were equally slash and stab. They probably used the loosening then tightening their grip technique I think you told me about.
