[up] Personally the escape from the cave scene always seemed to be BEGGING for 3D, so I'll probably see it for that if nothing else.

I had thought being released from the lamp didn't lessen the Genie's powers so much as make them unreliable. Of course, when you think about that, it's downright terrifying — nigh-omnipotence and iffy control...

Right, I remember a newspaper comic strip from I think before Return of Jafar came out, where the Genie said his powers no longer did what he wanted them to. I always wondered if that was going to be "canon" for the rest of the Aladdin animated series.

Disney Adventures had some actually hilarious and entertaining Aladdin comics!

Why does everyone think the death is so horrifying?

I liked it, too. I honestly never saw the King of Thieves, though.

It is probably worth watching once or twice, if only to bridge the gap between the first Aladdin movie and King of Thieves, but it is my least favourite of the Aladdin trilogy, and my least favourite Disney sequel. (Though granted, the only other ones I can think of that I am sure I watched are King of Thieves, Lion King 2, and Rescuers Down Under.)

I'm sorry, but any movie that has a character named "Abysmal" in it, and we have to follow said character around throughout, is a failure or not possible to take seriously, whether people lik it or not IMHO.

We only follow him for, like, ten minutes overall, if not less. He's a secondary character.

Yes, and probably (forgot the trope) works as a pun of sorts because he is an Abysmal villain.
