I'm browsing the Watchmen character page and I'm looking at Dr. Manhattan's section... and I get to thinking, you see, I get to thinking who would make a good opponent for this guy?
At first I think
VEGITO BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
- World's Strongest Man
- created through fusion (Vegito) and fission (Manhattan)
- they're f-cking blue ok?
Then I think:
"Frankly. It's as if there's a god existing in that body."
- Superhero bald-men
- So powerful they can't be stopped
- Losing touch with their humanity
- Well-known celebrity (Manhattan) vs Almighty Janitor (Saitama)
- Gaudy superhero titles
- tendency to make enemies explode
- nobody has any clue how their powers work
And I keep on thinking
- immortal
- telekinetic/psionic abilities
- frequently used to create/break down matter or to change size
- they're f-cking blue ok?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Here's the problem, though: do any of them have a hard counter to Manhattan's omniscience?
My various fanfics.Easy: Manhattan just lets things happen when he doesn't see a point to stopping them.
- He doesn't stop Comedian from shooting a pregnant woman, and is even called out on this - he was perfectly capable of stopping this event but allowed it anyway
- Veidt is able to get the drop on Manhattan using tachyons - Jon should have known this was coming but doesn't
- I'm told that in the TV show some baddies came up with a kind of teleporting gun to get rid of Manhattan, and he does precious little to stop them from using it and, even when he does, gets hit by it
regardless
His omniscience is Blessed with Suck. He can know what you're doing, when you were going to show up, and what you were going to say, but he's not necessarily going to act on it. It doesn't really give him any advantage.
If the script says "opponent will punch Dr. Manhattan and kill him" then in more cases than not it seems Manhattan will let himself be punched. He's like The Outsider from Dishonored - self-preservation isn't high on his to-do-list.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I reckon that the Bard could slot into that particular niche, too.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805All three are from the PS 2 era too. Good fit all around.
Probably have to give it to the Chaos Legion guy though.
You are not alone. So basically, using Tachyons to block Jon's prescience actually draws him to you since he'll immediately notice he can't see things (especially if he can tell where the Tachyons are coming from).
Kinda like a Revealing Cover-Up, where the attempt to avoid being found is what shows people that something is going on in the first place.
One Strip! One Strip!Well that and the giant murder squid.
He mentions a few times that his vision is clouded by Tachyons, but it's only when the Squid stuff goes down and he sees the ruined New York that he then cares about the source of the Tachyons.
EDIT: I'd also point out that Manhattan not stopping that woman from getting shot is before his revelation at the end of the book, where he stops seeing humans as unimportant insects and come to cherish that every human life is special. End of the comic Dr. Manhattan is less jaded and less passive than he is at the start of the book.

I haven't read Doomsday Clock, but isn't it revealed that Doctor Manhattan was responsible for creating the DCU (or at the very least, was responsible for a few universe reboots)? Because I think that means he's at least Universe-level scale.
Oh right. The other hard part about Jon is getting him to care enough to do anything.
So blocking him with Tachyons does prevent him from seeing what you are doing....but when you think about it my earlier point stands.
If you're going to the trouble to prevent Jon from seeing what you are doing, that means you think he'd care enough to stop you, which again lets him know this is something important and where to go.
But I admit that's a bit of a toss up. Jon caring or not is something that's difficult to determine. So you can take the risk, not use Tachyons and hope he just sits on his ass doing nothing, or use Tachyons and clue him in that you are doing something that you think he wouldn't like and risk him doing something.
One Strip! One Strip!
Sure, I don't see why not. Marth was even brought up by Sam in the reddit QA as someone who could totally work if they put their minds to it.
As a huge FE nut, though, I definitely would say some characters are infinitely more workable than others. The ones I'd say could and should be used are essentially all the ones in Smash (Marth, Roy, Ike, Lucina, Robin, Corrin, Chrom, maybe Lyn) and perhaps the new Three Houses main characters Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude. Reason being that those listed have a decent amount of on-screen feats to draw from, can be scaled to some stuff reasonably, are popular, and have accessible models/sprites to use.
When you get into someone like Sigurd, or even Hector, it might be an issue for DB due to lack of footage, clear feats, and models/sprites. So thats why I'd only say the Smash characters + the new 3 Houses characters would feasibly work. (For the record: All the Smash roster and 3 Houses guys obviously have high quality models, but Marth also has SSF 2 sprites, Roy and Lyn have some good mugen sprites, and Lucina and Chrom have Project X Zone 2 sprites.)

My first foray into VS match discussions was the old Grudge Match
website. So I decided to check the archive and see what matches they've done featuring characters that have also appeared on Death Battle. Some of them would make good match-ups, others... not so much:
- Khan Noonien Singh vs. Lex Luthor... in a game of Stratego.
- The T-800 vs. a Predator.
- Darth Vader vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi if he actually tried note .
- The Bionic Woman vs. Wonder Woman.
- Tarzan vs. Aquaman.
- The Six Million Dollar Man vs. RoboCop.
- The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs. the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
- Godzilla vs. King Kong.
- The ThunderCats (1985) vs. the Masters of the Universe note .
- Boba Fett vs. the Predator.
- Spider-Man vs. The Tick.
- Lara Croft vs. Duke Nukem
- A four-way fight between the live-action Batman at the time note .
- The Cenobites vs. the Sith note .
- The Superfriends vs. the X-Men.
- The Joker vs. Catwoman vs. The Penguin vs. The Riddler.
- Popeye vs. The Incredible Hulk.
- The Headless Horseman vs. the T-800.
- Anakin Skywalker vs. Harry Potter note
- Mario vs. Sonic the Hedgehog note
- Pokémon vs. Care Bears
But yeah, what do you think of these match-ups? If Death Battle were to do some of them, which ones would you want to see? Which ones do you think wouldn't work?

I think the trouble with Fire Emblem characters is the same problem that plagues a lot of RPG games: in terms of comparative analysis to other series, it's difficult to really analyze feats/stats/etc. from "Moves 5 squares per turn, has 22 Strength, can spend 3 weapon durability to do a super attack for +4 damage."
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. That's why the characters in Smash are the ones who can work, they're the ones who have more appearances overall than the rest. For example: It's really hard to gauge Marth from just his games alone, but he has appeared in crossovers like Codename Steam and FE Warriors, the latter of which giving him a clear speed feat that can be used. The same goes for Lyn.
In 3 Houses, we actually get pretty clear feats for at least Edelgard, Byleth and Dimitri, what with The Slitherers Missiles and Rhea's dragon form. Rhea clearly tanks two missiles in Golden Deer and Church, and in other instances we clearly see that these missiles can wipe out entire small cities. Edelgard and Byleth ultimately kill Rhea in Black Eagles with a combined physical strike to her, and Dimitri is constantly said to be the strongest person in the game. Byleth also has other feats like cutting out of another dimension, and you could probably just get their speed from the usual bolting feats.
Then you have Roy who has an entire manga adaptation that could be used and in fact gives him some pretty substantial feats, including what I personally think is the best basis to scale the Binding Blade to.

Roy would likely be the prime candidate for Death Battle because he's popular, in smash and has a manga adaption.
I also wouldn't mind seeing him get mauled so it's a win-win.
Ironically despite how awesome he's made out to be he's considered one of the weakest lords in the series.
You are not alone. It's a two episode OVA that doesn't get past the "Saved one dirt farming village from ugly bandits" stage of the war. Not the best resource.
I rented that thing on VHS long before I ever played any of the FE games. Weird.
You are not alone.

That's why I call Tobias Elastic Man.
