Also no one on Avatar has ever made ice on screen on the scale Todoroki does casually. Heck, goes the same with flames too, baring the Sozin's comets fights.

Fight looks cool, but the slow framerate reminds me of that awful Saitama vs Kenshiro DBX.

Wait, what? "Lightning reflexes"? As in, "he's so fast, he can dodge a lightning blast"?

is this another variation of that "faster then light" thing that keeps being tossed around?

Some characters in Avatar can fire lightning bolts from their fingertips. Actual lightning, as in, Zuko goes out during a legit thunderstorm to practice being hit by one (specifically, how to reflect it).

When did Zuko break out of ice, though? I can recall two separate times a firebender got encased in ice, and in both cases they were helpless against it.

Zuko breaks out of ice when Katara traps him in it at the end of the first arc, where the Fire nation attacks that water tribe city. Katara was even powered by the full moon at the time.

That is not even close to what Todoroki generates in ice though. Remember when he all but filled a stadium with ice ? Or froze an entire building with just a touch. Even giving Zuko a faster reaction time, Todoroki's powers have such range and magnitude that there's alot Zuko can't actually dodge.

Zuko breaks out of ice when Katara traps him in it at the end of the first arc, where the Fire nation attacks that water tribe city. Katara was even powered by the full moon at the time.

...I don't remember that. Huh. That's really interesting.

My biggest memory of a firebender trapped in ice is from the finale. Katara traps Azula in ice and, for all intents and purposes, she's done. Once she's encased in ice, Azula is completely and utterly defeated. Katara's able to swim through the ice to cuff Azula's hands to the grate beneath them and Azula is totally powerless to stop her.

The ice even stops Azula from lightningbending for some reason. When Katara surprises her with the attack, Azula's frozen in her lightning pose. The two fingers she uses to project her lightning are inches from Katara's face. If Katara had been a millisecond later, she'd be dead. But because Azula's trapped in the ice, she isn't able to fire the attack.

Being frozen in ice destroys Azula. And it's hammered in repeatedly through the series that Azula is a significantly more powerful, dangerous, and capable firebender than Zuko.

Now. There are mitigating factors, but for both Azula and Zuko. For one, Azula is in the midst of an emotional meltdown when this happens. She's explicitly stated to not be on her A-game. It's both stated by Zuko and then shortly after demonstrated that Azula's psychological instability has weakened her to the point that Zuko feels very comfortable with his chances of taking her in a 1v1 duel.

However, when I say "the point that Zuko can take her", it should also be noted that Zuko is more formidable here than he was during the Northern Water Tribe invasion. He's learned true firebending from the original masters and has since been holding his own against Azula pretty well without her psychological handicap.

So since the Northern Water Tribe Invasion, True Fire Master Zuko has risen in his abilities to near Prodigy Azula's level, then Unstable Firelord Azula sank beneath True Fire Master Zuko's level. so it's really unclear how Unstable Firelord Azula would compare in ability to BUT MUH HONOR Zuko.

[up][up][up] Zuko wasn't trapped to the extent Azula was there and Iroh taught him how to maintain his body temperature in cold temperatures, which is why he was able to steam his way out once morning came. The latter comes up again when he's place in the freezer during the events of Boiling Rock, so I guess it's not common knowledge among Firebenders.

Plus Waterbending is stronger at night and Firebending is stronger in the day. At night Zuko couldn't escape due to Katara being more powerful, but come dawn their positions were reversed.

Of course, Sozin’s Comet was in the area while the Azula fight was going on, so I think she would be able to break out anyway.

Also keep in mind that Katara is a much more capable water bender in Season 3 than she is in Season One

If anything I'd argue Katara in season 3 is a better Waterbender than Zuko is a Firebender.

Trap-making is a craft that these two sadistic, relentless monsters have honed and turned into a weapon against society's worst members. But today their attention is on each other. Whose keen eye for setting skulls ablaze, evading law enforcement, and duping people into hurting themselves will prevail?

John Kramer - The Jigsaw Killer

VS

Kevin Mc Allister - played by Macaulay Caulkin

  • Both have experience making twisted, pathologically-complicated traps
  • Both torment their pursuers through traps and misdirection
  • Their trap artistry began due to a callous act of negligence
  • Both target Jerkass Victims
  • Both have seemingly had their gruesome work continued by copycats Alex Pruitt, Finn Baxter in Home Alone 3 and 5; Amanda Young, Alex Hoffman, Logan Nelson, etc.
  • The video that inspired this - Theory: Kevin becomes the Jigsaw Killer

Kevin wins.

Jigsaw's traps require extensive advance research of his target, and his target has to be carried into them unconscious. He thrives on creating a very controlled environment; the target awakens in a specific location and encounters specific things in a specific order, all tailored to their exact identity.

Kevin's traps are much more general-purpose. He barricades a single location from intrusion from any direction, regardless of the person intruding. He doesn't need to get to know Harry and Marv; his traps are designed to beat the shit out of anyone, period. Kevin doesn't have to control the environment and approach; he just rigs everything, in every direction, to kill anyone, period.

As Home Alone 2 shows us, he doesn't even have to know the location. He is a master at filling any place with death at any time.

Even setting aside that Kevin is young and energetic while Jigsaw is a cancer-ridden old man, Kevin will be much more capable of killing Jigsaw with his traps than Jigsaw is of killing Kevin.
