That was a long ass time ago! Persona 3 came out in like 2009 didn't it?
I admit, I was running off how I thought the advanced Personas worked in 4 and 5, where I think most of them do lose their weaknesses.
When was the last time a fight result was this contested?
Tracer vs Scout?
At around 5:00 of that video I posted back on page 1648, it showed someone trying to cut off Ben's arm with a hard light construct and failing, showing that even amputating the arm won't work. Would the Green Lantern Ring be strong enough to break through the Omnitrix's defenses? That's what I want to know.

Looking at the actual episode, the guy didn’t cut his hand off. He hit the omnitrix itself with his energy axe which seemed to glitch things out, which included teleporting Ben. Pretty different then just having his arm cut off.
He was able to beat fight Krona while Krona had Ion, the embodiment of all willpower in the universe with his own willpower.
He stabbed reality warper Mandrakk

In RWBY, Aura serves the role of HP, not MP, so Spirit Drain probably wouldn't work there.
Anyone remember what happens in Persona if you spirit drain an opponent wss ith no magic left? Do you still get something?
I'll concede that the Green Lantern Ring could overpower the Omnitrix's defenses since the Omnitrix can create a universe destroying explosion while the Green Lantern Ring apparently has multiverse level power, and I don't recall a moment in the series where the Omnitrix automatically transformed Ben to save him from a non-lethal attack like amputation. There was also one episode where Vilgax used a special machine to forcefully remove the Omnitrix from Ben without cutting off his arm, and if the Green Lantern Ring can do anything, then it could just remove the Omnitrix itself.
I still think they could've found a better way to end the fight that would've caused far less backlash. If they really believe Green Lantern is more powerful than Alien X, they should've just showed it so there was no room for complaints. It certainly wouldn't have been as anticlimactic.

Yes, I agree. The majority of complaints seem to come from seeing the fight animation and thinking Hal only won because he went back in time to when Ben wasn't Alien X, suggesting that Hal can't beat Alien X straight up, which he most likely could. And it leads to a bunch of "What about the failsafe" comments.
Hell, the part about the Omnitrix having nothing for amputation in the info tab at 20:20 in the video.
... Are there still people hating on RWBY just because of Yang beating Tifa? I forget if there's even a credible argument for the research for that matchup being sufficiently flawed to delegitimize the presented verdict.
There is literally one person that's been so mad about Yang vs. Tifa they've been commissioning guro art of RWBY characters because of it.
Granted, I believe that person doesn't represent the Final Fantasy fandom as a whole, but still.
...you know what. I don't want any further info on that. I was going to ask after the entire going what the fuck, but nope. Just leaving it there. Try to forget about it if I can.
Its been a while since I've watched Tifa vs Yang so this might be inaccurate, but like the biggest thing I can point to is the fact that it came off like they were treating Aura as damage reduction or somesort of threshold to overcome, when its very clearly established (especially in volume 3) that its ablative. It gets worn down, and pretty damn easily if V3 is any indication. Which yes came out after the DB, but that lowkey makes it worse? I dunno.
The other thing is I think they lowballed Tifa's strength significantly, but that's not entirely their fault given the fact the most usable data came from Advent Children and Tifa was explicitly weaker in AC then during the end of FF7 proper. But I don't really have support for this second point beyond gut feeling of Tifa can suplex kaiju she has got to be stronger then the mecha suit that punched Yang.

Honestly Tifa stood no chance against Yang if she lost to Loz, ultimately.
But people gonna get angry when their waifu gets destroyed.
The only one that bothers me is Scout vs Tracer to be honest. If they were going with her winning I would've said superior tech and all that. But what they gave her amounted to pretty much aimdodging and massive downplaying of Scout's durability. Something something point of impact.
That and the animation kinda disappointed me I suppose. Can't be too mad about that though as animation is hard work.
Never gonna watch Gaara vs Toph, don't buy it.
Listen fighting Toph with sand as your shield is like fighting Magneto while wearing full plate armor.
Still mad about Bowser vs. Ganon, personally.
Fucking superlava bullshit.
You know gonna be completely honest. Forgot about Bowser vs Ganon entirely. That was such a bizarre one.
But isn't the guy wearing full plate armor also Magneto?
Plus I'm pretty sure Toph can't control gold. The woman has a stuff time controlling sand as it is & she can only manipulate metal in direct proximity to it.
She can't wrestle Gaara's sand away from him.

I found the Bowser vs Ganon one funny because they bring up Ganondorf's curse killing the Deku Tree as a measure of his power. As if it was death magic or something.
The "Curse" is the Gohma that you fight at the dungeon, he just sicced a big bug on the thing.
That one's pretty old and probably worth a renewal akin to Sonic Vs Mario though.
A lot of Season 3 episodes are pretty contentious.
I don't think I've ever rewatched that episode.
Speaking of which, anyone remember Ken vs Terry? Neither do I.

I never understood the point of matchups that have canonically happened, honestly. Which, come to think of it, the coming battle includes.
Weiss and Mitsuru have fought before. They're pretty evenly matched.
My big one is Ryu vs Scorpion, but I've made my take on that pretty clear in the recent past.
I also dislike Goku vs Superman: Act. 2 - The Exaggerated Boogaloo, mostly because as a Superman fan I find the whole thing really demeaning to the character. And also, as a Dragonball fan, I'm well aware of when someone's trying to patronize me. And also, also, as a fan of Death Battle I recognize a completely pointless use of a proverbial timeslot when I see it.

Oh well if Fanon says it I'm settled. A game in a different franchise only sweatens the deal.
