The Fast and the Furious franchise is two movies away from saying "Vin who? Who is that? This is The Rocks franchise."

Honestly they are already past that point.

The last movie was literally "Can we go back to Jason Statham and the Rock being awesome and less of mr. Mumblegrowl and his boring shit"

This movie is LITERALLY "Lets take the stuff people loved from the last one and ditch the dead weight"

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel had a falling out during the filming of The Fate of the Furious. In fact, they filmed their scenes separately; at no point in the entire movie did the two actors shoot together.

This spinoff exists mainly to allow Johnson and Diesel to go their separate ways with the franchise.

The greatest trick prejudice ever pulled was to convince the world it did not exist.

Ah. Now it makes sense. Shame it always comes down to that though.

[up][up][up] I'm aware. But lets just say it's no random even they also switched Statham to the spin off too.

[up] I do, but frankly I only began loving the movies when they became facepalmingly stupid heist/superhero movies with cars.

They are the closest thing I can get nowadays to an 80s action movie.

Oh, I'm not saying I miss Paul Walker and Vin Diesel mumbling into Coronas about family. The stupider the better. I'm waiting for the crossover with Transformers.

Remember when the first movie was just Point Break with cars?

Remember how before the biggest threat to the heroes was a trucker with a shotgun and now we need Idris Elba with super powers to give them a believable challenge?tongue

I'm waiting for the crossover with Transformers.

You mean the Bay movies? Those are plenty stupid and also have Tyrese in them.

I expect "Fast and Furious: Cars in Space" within the next 3 movies.

What other Pokemon can you see making it into Death Battle? I think the rest of the starters should get royales of their own, but aside from that, I'm thinking Gardevoir, Machamp, Tyranitar, Garchomp, Dragonite and maybe Jigglypuff are the most likely candidates.

[up][up] Greninja seems like a likely one. Popular, well known, is in Smash, is an Ashmon, plenty of material to use. Jigglypuff and Pichu for the same reasons could work for a joke fight. If Ash gets Incineroar, I'd say he's possible down the line too. I don't expect many generic or non-super mainstream Pokemon to get in unless its via a Battle Royale. Mewtwo could always come back, maybe against Magneto. And specific trainers like Blue, Lance, Team Rocket, Steven, etc. could bring their respective teams/aces with them.

Apr 19th 2019 at 11:18:44 PM

Jigglypuff can put people to sleep, and... that's about it, really. Smash Bros aside, it's not a terribly threatening combatant. About the only time I can think of it getting physical in the show was when it got in a slap fight with a Clefairy.

How much material does Zygarde have to work with? Didn't he get, like, a whole story arc devoted to it in the show towards the end of XY?

Other than him, the only other Pokémon I can think of that might be eligible for a battle are Greninja, Arceus (due solely to his position as creator deity. As I recall, he's kind of featless), and maybe one of the Weather Trio. Not Kyogre, though, unless they're fine trying to choreograph a fight with what's essentially a whale.

Edit: Wait this isn't the Smash thread.

I'm aware. But lets just say it's no random even they also switched Statham to the spin off too.

You're right, it's not random. Statham's character is a villain who murdered a member of Diesel's Nakama. If Johnson and Diesel are splitting the franchise, Statham has two options: stick with Johnson or kill off his character and f*ck off out of the franchise.

He has no place on Diesel's side of the fence. In fact, one of the biggest criticisms of "The Fate of the Furious" is that Diesel's crew accepted Statham's presence too easily.

I get that you're somehow trying to make this a point that "The Fast and the Furious" fans don't like Vin Diesel - seriously, what? - but there is nothing questionable or thought-provoking about the fact that Deckard Shaw isn't hanging out in Dominic Toretto's garage, shooting the shit about women and family.

I do, but frankly I only began loving the movies when they became facepalmingly stupid heist/superhero movies with cars.

They are the closest thing I can get nowadays to an 80s action movie.

I'm of the opinion that the fourth movie "Fast & Furious", was meant to be a soft reboot. It feels like taking a mulligan on "The Fast & the Furious" to me, right down to the point of copying the name and cutting out the "The"'s.

The film hits a lot of the same plot beats as the first film, but with a twist at the end. It's as if the writers went, "Alright, hear me out. What if, in the first movie, Brian fled with Dom and his gang instead of just giving him his keys? And then the rest of the movies are just following Brian and Dom's adventures?"

Which was a great idea and set the stage for what would come: the franchise effectively turning into Die Hard With Cars. Which is the best thing that ever could have happened to it.

After watching Mad Max: Fury Road when it came out, I kinda had an idea for a pseudo- Death Battle: replace Max, Furiosa, and the War Rig with Dom’s crew and see if they can make it through the movie’s plot. Not sure if it really works, especially since I haven’t seen any of the Fast movies past the 5th one, I think.

Here's an idea for a matchup... Jigglypuff vs Parappa the Rapper. Oddball mascot fighter choices with unconventional, cartoony designs and music-based fighting styles. Plus, one is round as a balloon and the other as flat as a sheet of paper. They both have about as much to work with as one another too.

Found this example on WMG.Death Battle Joke Suggestions And Bad Ideas, listed as a "Bad Idea":

Team Fortress 2 Mercenaries Battle Royale

I disagree with its presence on the page. First of all, wouldn't the fact that each character has his own pros and cons make this a good idea for a fight, since it would be a closer and therefore more tense one? Second, the fact that the characters get along and would not want to fight each other is irrelevant to Death Battle, since the rules of the show state that characters have any moral restrictions against killing removed; the TMNT also had a battle royale and having them murder each other is even more out-of-character than the TF2 classes. By the way, a RED team battle royale is also listed on WMG.Death Battle Battle Royale And Team Battle Suggestions as a good idea.

Feels like Soldier would win, since those Kill Me Come Back Stronger pills he stole, plus the fact thst all deaths are canon, means we need to increase his strength for every soldier death since the game came out. Which at this point is in the billions.

...why do we have a "bad ideas" page, anyways?

I can get having a joke fights page to contain Saitama stuff like Shaggy VS Sans, but expanding it to "bad" ideas seems like it's begging to get the page bombarded with natter and flaming.

Having not seen Mad Mad Max Fury Road and with no actual inclination to do so, does it have any roided-up irradiated wildlife? Just thugs and slave owners with guns?

Dom's crew has been taking on international terrorists from a time when guns, cars, bombs, napalm, and modern technology were in vogue. I think they can handle some post-apocalyptic thugs.
