So, I just finished NieR: Automata today and I'm finally able to ask- do y'all have any good ideas for matchups involving characters from that game?

Namely, either 2B or 9S. The latter would especially be fun since his main form of "fighting" is hacking to complement 2B's swordplay and weapon-switching.

I’ve seen Noctis vs 2B suggested before.

Alita from Gunnm's been suggested as an opponent for 2B.

I'd be down for Sasuke(Dr.Snakes lol) vs Hiei. Also it could be 3D. Naruto games have the Storm models on PC. Hiei has his J-Stars model which people can just rip from the PS 3 version. My two favorite characters of their respective series.

I've always pit Hiei vs Hitsugaya myself.

Short serious swordsmen with a Fire / Ice dynamic.

Damn, J-Stars models still aren't ripped? Then it will have to be 2D. I want a 3D Sasuke battle, man :( His Boruto model in Storm 4 is just perfect.

How about the Light Warriors vs the Konosuba gang?

Two groups of extremely powerful adventurers (or at least, with potential to be powerful) rendered largely incompetent by their personal quirks and inability to coordinate. There's actually a few other parallels, now that I think about it...

And his Kamehameha drains love from the universe.

I know at least with the Light Warriors it’s not whether they’re strong enough to fight a given thing it’s how much they’ll fuck up and in fight along the way and how much slapstick can be extracted before a given thing resolves

The Hadoken is one of the reasons I think the connection works. BM has a one-per-day spell that's extremely powerful but typically rendered useless in some way or another by the plot regardless - and so does Megumin.

To note, I don't think the Konosuba cast would win, but it's would still be a decent fight with a lot of overlap - a significantly better fight than anything else I could think of for either group.

Well, kids anyway. And the kid recovered pretty quick - it was all the other stuff that really drove him crazy.

Yeah, while the joke around the Light Warriors is that they're all incompetent dipshits, it warrants noting that they have some insane f*cking feats when they knuckle down and try.

Black Mage has his Hadoken, but otherwise relies on his seemingly infinite supply of knives. Unless he goes into his eldritch horror murder mode. Oh, and he once copied a spell by a master wizard that made him puke his guts up, so he now knows a spell that makes Black Mage, Specifically puke his guts up.

Red Mage has Ice 9, a spell that instantly causes the heat death of the universe. He once defeated an opponent by stuffing them in a bag of holding and then casting Ice 9 into the bag's pocket dimension.

Fighter has a ton of Achievements in Ignorance feats, including successfully blocking the planet Earth to survive a lethal fall, matching a six-armed swordfighter blow for blow by chaining four swords together into two pairs of swordchucks, and whatever "Make your swords be as like things unto chainsaws" is supposed to mean - all we see is the bloodsplatter from the many dragons he's annihilating this way.

Thief can steal anything and everything that exists. He has, in fact, stolen everything in existence on at least one occasion. And he once obtained a class upgrade by stealing it from himself in the future. Which did come back to haunt him down the road, but it's still an impressive feat all the same.

Could the Light Warriors be killed by Explosion if they were caught in it?

They’ve been at ground zero of explosions, usually but not always caused by Black Mage.

They tend to get thrown clear and just have to sort out how to land. Hence the blocking the Earth thing

Yeah. They've been at Ground Zero for blasts powerful enough to produce a mushroom cloud and survived.

The Black Mage copies a spell that specifically makes him puke up his guts joke is just one in a long line of ridiculous shit.

It's important to note that Fighter is the only member who's not evil. He's painfully stupid, but if he hung around better people, he'd probably be a legitimate force for good.

There in lies the tragedy.

Also probably worth noting that Red Mage has the Mimic class-change, so he can replicate anything his teammates are doing. If Fighter's doing Glorious Chainsaw Method, Red Mage can too. If Black Mage is firing a Hadoken, Red Mage can too. Etc. etc.

These guys are bumbling idiots, but they're a force to be reckoned with.

If you have a stomach for Black Comedy, it's definitely worth a read. It's a story about astonishingly awful people being astonishingly awful to each other (and, on occasion, others) in consistently hilarious ways.

They f*ck over other people here and there but about 90% of the time, the main victim of their bullshit is each other, which is rarely not funny.

'Twas an important part of the webcomic scene early on. Truly a classic.

She's technically a unicorn, so she's got a horn for stabbing and all.

I mean, in a fight when no one has limbs, the one with the horn has a massive advantage I'd say.
