I think this is the first time I got to look at Legends gameplay in actual detail.

Man that CG is blocky, how old are those games?

I know nothing about Megaman.EXE, but were they applying those feats correctly? Because when you strip away the flowery language, it sounds like they were just describing running a search algorithm, having a data backup, and getting Administrator privilidges. Was it actually intended to be directly translatable to real world feats?

.EXE in general is pretty YMMV with how you choose to interpret things, though the Net's a bit more complex than the real-world internet for obvious reasons.

Like, for example, you can "hack" into a subway system by... dropping rocks on the digital representation of its tracks. Or, by going into the local network for a hospital you can hack a motherf**king TREE and make its roots grow to knock out the power and trap people.

In Death Battle's case they went the route of interpreting the Net as "a universe, but with binary instead of atoms." Which I'd say is a valid interpretation, since other characters like Kirito and Neo would need to be given the same interpretation to function in a VS setting. The in-universe representation of those feats show them as him physically traversing the entire Net or gaining god powers, so they treated the feats as how they're represented instead of treating them as the boring real life equivalents.

Funny you mention data backups, though- Network Transmission actually treats those as the in-universe justification for extra lives, with Lan running backups any time .EXE gets deleted.

So this is a universe where a stillborn baby's brain can be uploaded and used as a PA program, growing as a normal human would, then said human brain can be backed up on a thumbdrive or whatever the hell in case you fuck up and accidentally get your digital-brother killed.

...why are the backups expendable? Couldnt you just keep using the same one, then updating it accordingly?

Because then the 2D platformer spinoff game wouldn't be fun, would it?

Man, all that fight made me feel was a burning desire for another Battle Network game. Or at least another rerelease like the one on the Wii a while back.

I'm surprised the Megaman franchise is so interconnected like I was with Zelda.

EXE may be the strongest Mega Man, but Star Force is still the better series.

That Mega Man battle royale turned out to be very satisfactory for me. I expected Mega Man X to just take it based on raw power, and that EXE and Star Force's powers would be confined to their respective realms of internet and radio waves, so the result was surprising. Even after watching the analysis, I still thought Geo was going to take it.

What I feared the most was that the analysis was going to unreasonably scale their feats, but they managed to avoid that despite multiple opportunities to do so. They didn't scale X to Zero, they didn't claim Classic was as fast as Quick Man (though they came close to it), and the "universal speed" from EXE was adequately justified.

I also find it amusing that Volnutt is immune to EXE's hacking. Assuming EXE's physical body is far weaker than his digital self (which is the impression I got), I wonder if the fight could've involved EXE just deactivating the other three, but then failing to best Volnutt in combat, forcing a stalemate.

As for the next time, I have no horse in the race, and I think Natasha takes it, but I'll be surprised if Widowmaker doesn't make it close. Street-level superpowers like hers are the dangers Black Widow deals with whenever she goes solo. Just because she fights the likes of Ultron from time to time, that doesn't mean she's as powerful as them.

This is a really cool idea. Would Grima get involved, I wonder?

As a whole, I think Classic is on the whole consistently better. In my opinion, X has better games (X1, X2, and X4), but also worse games (X3, X5, X6).

I don't know how people feel about 5-8 but I didn't particularly care for those. 9 was a great nostalgia trip, but I've heard nothing but bellyaching about 10 for rehashing the retro look, and while all of those critics cheered 11 for being different I've heard nothing about 11 since it was announced.

I actually would like to see a multiple versions of Batman Battle Royale (split up the different interpretations of Batman, so you'd have Adam West, Bt AS and Nolan versions of Batman fight each other, plus a few others.)

I mostly just want to see Adam West Batman pull out an anti-Batman spray.

You know what's funny and coincidental? X, Volnutt, .EXE, and Star Force are all primary spirits in Smash Ultimate which means they all have power levels.

Their max power levels are this:

1. Volnutt - 8015

2. Full Armor X - 8548

3. Star Force - 9239

4. .EXE - 10,039

Which is how Death Battle ranks them. And .EXE is the only natural 4-star Legend Spirit of them.

not quite, Death Battle portrays Volnutt as somewhere around a 50.

Would it work by their own universes rules, or by externally applied logic? For example, according to the writer, All Star Batman is the greatest person to do anything ever and can beat anyone at anything, but as people have been pointing out for years, he's a fucking idiot.

After running across the story of Santa owning Darkseid and all of Apokolips again, I kind of want Death Battle to do a thing where they composite the strongest incarnations of Santa Claus they can find in pop culture and modern media and put him against the strongest version of, I dunno, the Krampus or something.

I know everyone is sick of Fate/Whatever but... Saberface Battle Royale?
