Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

It’s an inherently political process.
What would you advise to deal with a criminal President?
Because we have one.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. It’s not even a matter of a complicit Congress. It would be like this whether Congress was complicit or not, because the impeachment process was designed to be political rather than criminal. Whether that’s wise is a question that’s been debated for a long time, personally I think it could use a little tweaking for the modern era.
Frankly, while Trump is incompetent and most certainly corrupt to a degree I don’t think he actually meets the criteria for impeachment to be considered.
They should have sent a poet.![]()
I think you missunderstand, people are not saying that a political process is bad, though it's not ideal.... there saying it's not posible.
Trying to charge Trump is like trying to charge a druglord, with a jury made of his cicaros.... it just won't work.
TBH until yesterday I could have seen that point, not agreed with... but seen
However Trump had made it very clear he is willing to let US citizens get health problems and die, not just for money.... but for the benifit of a forigen power.
Even under it nor being a process to inflict judgment, a leader that sells out there own people to benifit another leader, with nothing for there own is not fit to lead.

Trump supporters likes tariffs until it starts affecting them
Moore is worried the tariffs might cost him his job. The mill where he works, NLMK Pennsylvania, in the town of Farrell, not far from the border with Ohio, employs 750 workers and is a subsidiary of Novolipetsk Steel, or NLMK, Russia's top steelmaker.
"Even if they're foreign-owned, but they have a factory in this country and they're employing American workers, to me, that's an American company," Almashy said.
To him, exempting this Russian-owned steel mill from tariffs would be a matter of putting "America First."
"President Trump was the better candidate," he says flatly.
Plus, he thinks the president is receptive to feedback.
Oh no these poor... yeah no can't fake this. Fuck these selfish little gnats.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm reining in my boundless optimism and cheerfulness for that same reason, but that won't stop me from enjoying the small consolations when I can take them.
...Racism? Homophobia? Anti-semitism? Islamophobia? Rabid hatred of Clinton and the Democratic Party and "liberals"?
I mean, I don't know what else you need.
He panders to the worst aspects of American culture. He's the Ugly American. And that's what his base wants.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThey're types who only care about how they feel, not how they think. Trump being bad makes them feel bad, and also acknowledging Trump's failings first requires some kind of analytical thinking about it, but that kind of intellectual bullshit is for "libtards" and "elites".
I feel sympathy for the Canadians, Mexicans and Europeans whose jobs will all be at risk from these tariffs. As for the ones who voted Trump, well, they wanted this. They said he'd do this and they were all for it. Now they're getting swept up in it. I only have one word for them: SUFFER.
Was that over the line? Was probably over the line. Apologies if so.
