Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

BREAKING: PAUL RYAN TO TELL HIS STAFF HE'S NOT SEEKING REELECTION THIS YEAR
![]()

I guess Ryan can't stand the heat, so he's getting out of the kitchen. My concern is less for him (I cry giant crocodile tears for his tragic suffering) and more for who'll replace him as Speaker. Well, if we take the House, it'll be a Democrat. Maybe he sees the writing on the wall and wants to prevent an electoral loss staining his record when he runs for President again in 2024? Just drop out of politics and resurface as the savior of the GOP. Or maybe he's angling for a Fox News job.
But who at the White House is going to tell Trump that it's a lie to his face?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"A shooting war in Syria and a President angling for impeachment, both running simultaneously. Well, nobody said the era of Trump would lack entertainment.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"So...if Trump actually makes these strikes, what will Russia's response look like? Because I believe CNN said that they would relatialiate on the launch sites.

Oh God! Natural light!I don't even want to think about it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"variations of:
It is time someone stood up against Assad
multiple jingoism post about US military being #1
What is Putin going to do about the US military?
MAGA! Go Trump and show who is in charge
repetitions of what Trump said
Accusing Obama of being a spineless commie and Trump having balls
You know the usual drivel.
Well as something else, I am going to ask this Thursday if possible to one of my teachers if a tweeter can be seen as a legally binding order.

Inter arma enim silent legesBut how does that advance Russia's narrative? I thought we were all buddy-buddy and our two nations would soon merge into a glorious singularity if only the evil FBI and Dems would get out of the way.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"According to my NPD expert who I sometimes post, judging by the tone of his tweets, he's actually noticeably calmer today.
I’m practically a narcissistic personality disorder weatherman at this point.
To me, today’s tweets are comforting. They’re less manic. More plaintive. Less frantic.
Trump isn’t off the ledge but not spiraling either.

It doesn't support the Trump/Russian collusion but it fits Trump's heat of the moment tough guy posturing and as an opportunity to show how he isn't Putin's little bitch to the audience.
Both are bullshit, chances are Trump will make empty threats against Russians or do something completely worthless, like he wasted 52 missiles in an empty base last year, which did absolutely jack shit to Assad's military power.
However, this is Trump and we don't know how stupid he can really go. Which is bad news for the US Military personnel near Syria, since doing anything that harms Russian assets directly or indirectly could open the chance for the Russians to retaliate against the areas with rebel groups where US advisors and special forces are operating.

Inter arma enim silent leges

This will only become more relevant as time goes on.
But you can't stop his tweets
Cause his blood pressure is starting to climb
And he's freakin' out because he knows's it's
