Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.

I'm pretty sure Trump didn't tweet this. It's way too articulate. It sort of feels like someone trying and failing to sound like Trump.
Honduras, Mexico and many other countries that the U.S. is very generous to, sends many of their people to our country through our WEAK IMMIGRATION POLICIES. Caravans are heading here. Must pass tough laws and build the WALL. Democrats allow open borders, drugs and crime!
39% of my nominations, including Diplomats to foreign lands, have not been confirmed due to Democrat obstruction and delay. At this rate, it would take more than 7 years before I am allowed to have these great people start working. Never happened before. Disgraceful!
Those morning tweets, were definitely him, but I'm reasonably confident these were not.

Sinclair Broadcast Faces Backlash For Requiring Anchors to Recite Segments.
Good! And it was nice to see at least one affiliate (WMSN in Madison, WI) refused to air it. Hopefully others follow suit if/when this kind of thing happens again.
But Trump backs Sinclair. Because of course he does. (face palm)
More Trump live tweeting Fox and Friends
The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our “Weak Laws” Border, had better be stopped before it gets there. Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen. Congress MUST ACT NOW!
Check out the fact that you can’t get a job at ratings challenged @CNN unless you state that you are totally anti-Trump? Little Jeff Zuker, whose job is in jeopardy, is not having much fun lately. They should clean up and strengthen CNN and get back to honest reporting!
Thank you to Rasmussen for the honest polling. Just hit 50%, which is higher than Cheatin’ Obama at the same time in his Administration.
At least he's distracted from Mueller?
And Rasmussen really? I can't wait to see where you end up once we end up in a Trade war.
Also, want to see Rodger stone admitting to a room of peopl e that he communicated with Assange?

China commits to matching Trump's tariffs in scale and intensity.

Also, what do you guys think about Trump's recent uptick in anti-immigration rhetoric? It might be him trying to rally his base that's pissed that he's not bad/not effectively bad enough, but it could cost him the swing vote (or even better, increase Democratic enthusiasm).
Might not be distracted for long, now that it's been proven that Mueller received a go-ahead to investigate Manafort for collusion with Russia last summer.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.![]()
Cheatin' Obama? Is that a new one?
Seriously, his approval ratings have been distressingly high. I think last week or so it was 42%, up from 35%, which worried me because frankly, it shouldn't be going up. Aside from Stormy stuff, gas is expensive, people are filing their taxes and should be realizing "oh gee, looks like the tax break hasn't done anything," and the stock market has been tanking. In other words, there was no reason for his approval to go up, yet it did. Are people just getting used to him?
Yes, yes, I know, single polls and whatnot are not good and are prone to upticks, but my point is that there's no apparent source for the uptick.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. It's only depressingly high if we ignore all historical context, he's in the low 40's or high 30's with a nice economy that he inherited from his predecessor. If he does something to fuck it up (like say start a trade war) or it just falls from things beyond his control then you can bet that he would suffer for it (if just 1/10 of his base stay home in the midterms or 2020 then he's almost certainly doomed).
Frankly expecting more at this juncture is fundamentally unrealistic and counterfactual.
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangI've been listening to the Mueller, She Wrote
podcast. It chronicles the new developments in the Mueller investigation, and is a good and fun way to get caught up and understand it.
Like episode 22, speculates that part of the reason the republicans want to end this investigation, and did so in the house, is because they're worried that they'll be tied to Cambridge Analytica or otherwise benefiting from it in some way, since Cambridge Analytica tied companies sent foreigners to advise GOP candidates in the 2014 election.

It's the context that makes it worrisome. I know polls will have upticks and downticks. The issue is an uptick when he has, by all accounts, fucked it up is worrisome.
- Trump watches @Fox News
- @foxandfriends feeds BS to the President
- The president tweets new US policy based on 💩 from @foxandfriends
- The White House has between 7-10am to figure out a plan.
Guys, I figure it out! The "Deep State" is actually Fox and Friends!

First sentence in Mueller probe expected to be handed down: report. [1]
Dutch national Alex Van Der Zwaan - who pleaded guilty to lying to federal agents - is expected to be sentenced, ABC News reported.
Van Der Zwaan was charged with making "materially false, fictitious, and fraudulent statements and representations" to Mueller's office and FBI agents, according to a court filing released last month.
Van Der Zwaan lied about his last communications with former Trump campaign adviser Richard Gates and then deleted emails requested by the special counsel's office, according to the indictment.
He had reportedly worked for a firm hired by the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice to prepare a report on the trial of Yulia Tymoshenko, a former prime minister of Ukraine.
The charges against Van Der Zwaan appear to be related to a report produced by the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom that helped the Ukrainian government counter international criticism that the 2011 prosecution and conviction of Tymoshenko had been driven by political aims.

Trump has always had a loyal core base of supporters, but that is basically all he has. His approval rating has always been high 30s to low 40s when it has been higher for previous Presidents prior to this point in their terms. His presidential win was won by insignificant margins in the Midwest due to a variety of factors. The only thing that is keeping Trump from being impeached is the fact that his loyal core base of supporters are also the core base of the Republican Party because I am sure the Republican Party would impeach him if they could actually survive the fallout of it.

Wizard Needs Food BadlyThe advocacy group Texas Civil Rights Project estimates at least 3,000 US Veterans have been deported in recent years, mostly for non-violent offenses. The number has to be estimated because DOJ doesn't track the Veteran status of deportees. While anything a group devoted to a cause says should be taken with a grain of salt, here's a link
to their short overview of their finds, a direct link to the PDF
with their full report, an NPR audio story
about both the most recent such deportation (which came up on here last week) and an interview with one of the group's attorneys for an overview of the situation.
Also, at least some of what they report on, such as the support center nicknamed "The Bunker"
in Tijuana where deported veterans get support and help acclimating to the changes in their life, have been reported on
several times in the past
.
Some local "fun":
‘I ought to kick your a—.’ Governor candidate threatens Boise radio host. Did he mean it?
http://www.idahostatesman.com/news/politics-government/election/article207798089.html
Shelman took the threat seriously and contacted police, according to Brown. He told the Idaho Statesman police called him Monday; he will meet with a Boise police detective Tuesday regarding the March 30 incident.
Brown, who lives in Nampa, says he wants to be taken seriously as a candidate. He has run, perennially and unsuccessfully, for several offices over the years. He frequently says he has orders from God to become president of the United States. For proof, he has a 1997 notarized statement from a bishop in Kenya confirming that “God did indeed tell Harley D. Brown that He would make him the Commander in Chief.”
That probably tells you all you need to know about this guy. For the actual incident...
Brown did not take the news well.
“These arrogant people who run the news media decide who they are going to have and not give everybody an equal playing field,” Brown told Shelman. “When that prejudice is directed towards me it pisses me off. I would like to crucify all of them.”
Shelman responded, “I look at it as merciful. To put you on a stage and allow people to, you think laugh with you, but I think people are laughing at you. I do not want to be mean to you Harley. Believe it or not, man, I am trying. I can be mean and I do not want to be mean.”
That upset Brown more, prompting the following profanity-laced exchange:
Brown: “Well, I ought to kick your a— you prejudice son of a b——.”
Shelman: “You are not going to.”
Brown: “I might. You got no bodyguards around you.”
Shelman: “OK, actually that is correct.”
Brown: “So you are the guy who made the decision?”
Shelman: “I am the guy who made the choice.”
Brown: Well, f—- you.
That was the end of the conversation. Brown cut short the interview and left the studio. But it was not the end Brown’s wrath.
Over the weekend, Brown sent two emails to the station, one with the subject line “die m——-f———,” the other with “death wish and mental health hazard.”
In the first email, Brown wrote he “almost kicked the living s—- out of that arrogant bastard. ... I was sitting three feet away from him. ... While I wanted to kill the son of a b—— ... I retained sufficient self discipline and never touched him.”
The second email reads, “Ever since the KBOI incident on Friday, my mind has been dominated by my killer instinct mode, which I can’t seem to be able to shake. ... I’ve decided to get some professional help from VA shrinks.”
Brown told the Statesman on Monday he has since cooled off and did not go to the Veteran’s Affairs medical center for help.

1/ Rod Rosenstein authorized Robert Mueller to investigate Paul Manafort for allegedly "colluding with Russian government officials" in a classified August 2017 memo. Mueller was given authority to also probe Manafort's work for the Ukrainian government. The memo was disclosed in a court filing as Mueller's prosecutors seek to counter arguments by Manafort's lawyers that his indictment should be thrown out. (CNN / Wall Street Journal)

3/ Mueller's investigation is asking about a private consulting firm working with the United Arab Emirates. Mueller's team is asking about Wikistrat's business relationship with George Nader, a Lebanese-American who serves as a top adviser to U.A.E. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed and was also close to the Trump administration last year. Wikistrat was contracted by the U.A.E. beginning in 2015 to conduct war game scenarios on Islamist political movements in Yemen. (Wall Street Journal)

4/ The EPA will revoke an Obama-era standard requiring cars to average more than 50 mpg by 2025. "The Obama Administration's determination was wrong," Scott Pruitt said, adding that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will establish a new standard that "allows auto manufacturers to make cars that people both want and can afford." The EPA will also "reexamine" a waiver that allows California to set stricter standards than those mandated by the federal government. 5/ Scott Pruitt bypassed the White House in order to give substantial pay raises for two of his closest aides. After the Presidential Personnel Office rejected Pruitt's raise request, the EPA administrator reappointed the aides using an obscure provision in the Safe Drinking Water Act. The move gave Pruitt total control over their contracts to grant the raises on his own. (The Atlantic)

6/ The EPA approved a pipeline-expansion project last year while Scott Pruitt was renting a $50-a-night condo linked to the company's lobbying firm. The expansion of the Alberta Clipper pipeline, an Enbridge Inc. project, would allow for hundreds of thousands more barrels of oil a day to flow through this pipeline to the U.S. from Canada's tar sands. At the time, Pruitt was living in the condo owned in part by Vicki Hart, the wife of J. Steven Hart, the chairman of Enbridge. (New York Times)

7/ Trump called Pruitt to say "we've got your back," urging him to "keep his head up" and "keep fighting." John Kelly reiterated those sentiments in a call to Pruitt Tuesday morning. According to a senior administration official, Kelly has considered firing Pruitt, but is waiting for the outcome of an EPA inspector general's report into Pruitt's travel expenses.
