Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Meanwhile North Korea's still a totalitarian hellhole whereas here we can at least protest the president's stupidity.
Also it's funny how NK has been fucking its own people for years but when it comes to climate change suddenly they're humanitarians.
This doesn't mean a damn thing; they just wanna score "points" against the US.

i'm tired, my friend
Actually, they've got good reason to want to reduce or halt climate change. The article points out that poorer nations tend to get hurt the most by climate change.
They are still hypocritical dicks when it comes to calling out anyone on matters of egotism and destructive selfishness.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThere is now reliable statistical data showing that Trump is hurting American tourism.

Cross-posting from the General Middle East & North Africa Thread: According to the article linked in this post
, Russian hackers may be to blame for the recent rift within the Gulf States that Trump further exacerbated with his tweets.
Also, the article in this post
highlights the impossibility of Mattis' mission in Singapore via Trump's Qatar tweets.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. If you guys have time, you might want to watch this ''the Daily Show with Trevor Noah'' clip: "Trump Touts More Phony Accomplishments"
. While being, of course, a comedy show, he makes one of those obvious points that everybody misses: Trump is more interested in playing the role of president than in doing what a president should do.
Hawai'i becomes first state to pass laws to align with Paris agreement after Trump withdrawal.

In all honesty, he's probably one of the better people Trump could've picked. He got involved in several White Collar Criminal Cases after he retired in 2005.
Forbes says Eric Trump, and his Charity, stole Hundreds of Thousands from Children's Hospitals, including St. Jude's, to fund their own expenses.
Particularly, to be a fundraiser in Donald Trump's Gold Tournaments. Eric Trump, of course, condemns the Article.
If True, that is absolutely awful and Eric absolutely deserves to go to jail.

It's not just the travel ban alone which is responsible for the drop in tourism...it is stuff like customs wanting to snoop through the private data of incoming passengers. I certainly haven't fought for the protection of my data in Germany, and to ensure that my data stays in Germany and doesn't get into the hands of the US, just to travel to the US and then hand it over myself.
RE: North Korea
Simply put, the Paris Accords is their version of "And you are lynching negroes
" argument.
Of course, the thing to consider is that we handed them the ammunition for such an argument.
And with the Karen Handel quote, here's the full youtube video of the exchange.

"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"

Little reminder here that Cambridge Analytica was a ramshackle, obsessively self-promoting scam, and the Trump campaign never used its data.
What's precedent ever done for us?
