Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Keep in mind that when you read "Fox New Poll" in the news it's almost never a poll of Fox News viewers, it's a traditional phone poll administered at least in part by Fox News.
And while they aren't the best polling firm by a long shot (they correctly call 65%-72% of races depending on who they are partnering with according to 538
) they are a legitimate one and don't have an enormous Republican bias.

I wonder why the people of the Middle East don't like the Western powers very much.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies. The story is that the "precision strike" also hit the terrorists' explosives.

Disgusted, but not surprisedTreasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin demands Congress increase the Debt Ceiling before August.
Democrats will do it if it's not combined with Republican Policies; Teapublicans won't do it unless it is combined with Spending Cuts.
These next 3 months are going to be fun, aren't they?
Flynn's life is crashing before his eyes. He might as well give them the documents and accept whatever fate befalls him.

The debt ceiling is such a terrible idea. Wish they'd just scrap it.

A good war is always good for continuing to savage democracy in the name of freedom and security. The longer they can keep that circus going, the better.
And yes, this is unfortunately a bipartisan situation.

Yep. Reps and Dems along with the media.
Here's Newt talking shit and Ron Paul actually spitting out some truth:
Ron Paul is right but he gets booed. And then he gets cheered after he brings it back to bringing their troops him.
And Newt talks about killing their enemies and he gets cheered.
Their ideal solution is to build terminators for the Middle East.
