Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

People tailoring their faith to their beliefs instead of their beliefs to their faith is probably the norm.
It's why you get things like your average Southern Baptist freaking out over Islam and refugees while the higher ups are telling people to be accepting and open to them.
Assuming your faith is genuine, if you're that deep into something as to be a bishop or whatever, you've probably learned to not pick and choice (as much) as the everyday practitioner.

but still worth mentioning
I'd say a maximum wage is a terrible idea for similar reasons why a minimum wage is a good idea. In addition:
The really rich usually aren't given wages like a normal worker is, so a maximum wage wouldn't effect them anyways.
Also, wealth distribution is not a zero sum game. Stopping people from getting rich doesn't actually help the poor. You can get money without having to take it from anyone else. In fact, in most voluntary trades there's a net growth in wealth for both sides.
Leviticus 19:34Also, wealth distribution is not a zero sum game. Stopping people from getting rich doesn't actually help the poor. You can get money without having to take it from anyone else. In fact, in most voluntary trades there's a net growth in wealth for both sides.
I'd wonder about the zero-sum part though. In (simple, basic, toddler-level) accounting if not economic theory, you can only divert that money to one place (say, owner's equity as opposed to personnel). Above the firm level and into macro-economics—er I'd call a lifeline. I'm not qualified enough for a good opinion on that.
And for the earlier posts, can't say I'm opposed to a maximum wage at this point. There's no way to know if compensation for those doing the accounting is coordinated with talent (or luck). That said, I know of no experiment with this, or much about potential consequences.

That's what, the 3rd important Fox News member to be fired this year over Racism and/or Sexual Assault?

Yep. She's been smeared for decades that she was very radioactive at that point. If you look at the stats, more people voted against Hillary than actually supported Trump.
