Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

heh, I wonder how long he'll be acting director then.
Hm. Honestly, I have no idea how probable this is, but this would be amusing as hell...
ACTING FBI DIRECTOR: President Trump's actions are unconscionable. I vow to testify against him on Comey's behalf!
TRUMP: You're fired.
SECOND ACTING FBI DIRECTOR: President Trump's actions are unconscionable. I vow to testify against him on the previous Director's behalf!
TRUMP: You're fired.
THIRD ACTING FBI DIRECTOR: President Trump's actions are... {Sees Trump standing just off camera, just waiting to open his big old orange of a mouth} completely hunkey-dorey and I'm perfectly OK with them. Now, who's up for Chinese?
TRUMP: You're hired.

We actually have more than two choices...because we don't really chose the chancellor, we are choosing parties, and every vote is worth something. Even if you vote for one of the smaller parties it can make a world of difference concerning possible coalitions.
That is the main problem with the US system. The two parties are limiting the voters from the get go.
this is an interesting take on the Comely issue and Trump as a whole. Apparently, trump literally doesn't care.

@speedyboris, you forgot in the timing for the re-opening of the H Illary investigations, it was all a distraction. If it didn't reopened, then the results would have been different. Just because one proof didn't took him out doesn't mean nothing can, don't treat the whole nation as stupid.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. The FBI will continue the Russia Investigation, but won't inform the White House about it: http://www.latimes.com/politics/washington/la-na-essential-washington-updates-fbi-will-not-update-the-white-house-on-1494517155-htmlstory.html
So it sounds like the FBI might be getting ready to conduct a raid.
Media reports on Twitter linked the site of the activity to the address of a Republican fundraising and consulting firm. FBI officials wouldn't confirm whether their investigation was linked to the organization.
FBI spokeswoman Lindsay Ram said the investigation is being conducted through the bureau's Washington field office, which has jurisdiction in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. She said agents from the office sometimes cross over into other jurisdictions when the entity they are investigating has offices in multiple locations.
This is developing story, and will be updated as more details become available.
Evidently they're conducting some kind of search warrant on a Republican tied fundraising firm.
The investigation is being run out of Washington, not locally, the I-Team has learned.
The FBI used trash bags to cover a window at the offices of Strategic Campaign Group at 191 Main St.
The firm is touted for pioneering the use of technology in political campaigns, and it represents GOP candidates nationwide.

Could this be a case of Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right! ?
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.White House: Removing Comey will help bring Russia investigation to end
Straight up admitting it now.

New Survey coming this weekend! The FBI is one thing...the US has like sixteen intelligence agencies. What's going to happen if they feel like they're all threatened? Or hell, what if they actually all work together?
I know that's kind of unlikely, but one thing about these agencies is that they generally take pride in what they do. With a president and White House who clearly want them to rewrite their intelligence so that Trump isn't offended or something, there's going to be a backlash, a big one.
