Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

If Trump hasn't realized that every little thing he does may potentially bite him in the god damn face by now, I don't know what will!
Especially since this looks like a Blatant Power Grab and an attempt to destroy the Russian Investigation!

Wonder if Comey will drop a bomb there?
I won't get my hopes up that he will.

Edward Snowden on Comey's firing:
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."@Dingo Walley 1:Trump doesn't realize that because, unfortunately, nothing in his ridiculously-brief political career thus far has managed to do any sort of lasting damage to him. He thinks he's invincible because enough crap has bounced off of him that would have killed absolutely anyone else's ambitions that he may as well be at this point.
Really, that's pretty much the story of his entire life. Whether due to his father's wealth and connections, Ivanka's ability to get him out of trouble, or just plain luck, Donald Trump has never truly suffered the consequences of his constant bungling.

Is that legal?
These Republicans may say stuff about their ~troubled feels~ now, but they're ultimately toothless. They need Trump in power to further their agendas.
Not rattled enough. They're not going to do anything to punish him. They have to metaphorically die on this hill

Do not obey in advance.
Well, except for Mc Connell and Graham at this point.
