I may have mentioned this previously, but Young Turk is an English-language colloquialism (I think more British than American and/or a bit outdated) that basically means a rebel/nonconformist that has left wing politics. This is speculation of my part, but I'd guess it probably took off partly because Turk was previously used as a slang term for someone savage/cruel (they had a bad rep), which probably also plays into how some parts of America use the term Turk to mean a brave person/warrior
.
And so if like Cenk, you are actually of Turkish descent and have left wing politics, Young Turk makes for a clever pun. While it's horrible that Cenk himself is/was a denier of the Armenian Genocide, the slang term Young Turk is itself based on seeing the movement in terms of radical reformists, not perpetrators of genocide. Which I think it understandable since the movement started as reformers overthrowing the Sultanate. Or at least that's how Westerners saw things.
Tl; dr, Because he denies the Armenian Genocide, that makes Cenk's use of the term Young Turks somewhat suspicious, but in the English speaking world, the term itself has a relatively positive connotation that doesn't consider the genocide.
Also, I've thought about historical parallels ranging from William of Orange and Oliver Cromwell to Andrew Jackson and the slogan of America First, but it struck me that there's a close analogue to how depending on the context, Crusader can have pretty unfortunate implications (cf. Jihadi), and how the related term, Knight Templar, actually has an outright negative connotation.

What the Turkish people think is immaterial. Cent is an American addressing an Anglophone audience, denied the Genocide, and named his group after the Turkish version of Those Whacky Nazis.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Yeah. I was thinking of that too. It's not really an excuse that people in Turkey deny the genocide, and there's even less excuse that Cenk, who is American does. I don't really hold the name against him because most Anglophone people who would use that as a slang term are presumably not genocide deniers.

Wasn't expecting that until Trump left office. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, as Comey sucked, but now Trump gets to pick a guy to replace him, and he could pick one of the sleaziest Trumpeteer he can find, which would effectively turn the FBI into the Gestapo or the KGB.
But man, sacking Comey probably won't help Trump's image with Intelligence Officers.
I think that Trump gets to pick, and then he has to get voted by 51 Senators. So, expect the sleaziest Trumpeteer Trump can find to get the position, and expect the spineless Senate to vote him in.
EDIT: Also, according to an Article I'm reading, Att. General Jeff Sessions and his Deputy both pressured Trump into doing it. Sounds to me that Jeff Sessions definitely wants to turn the FBI into the KGB...

It makes Trump look guiltier but Comey's going to be replaced with one of his cronies.
Meaning that the Russian investigation is probably going to be dropped soon from the FBI side. And that the Senate will be the ones doing the investigating which they're not doing because over half of them are Republicans.
Or it'll be like Light from Death Note where the leader feeds bad info to his group to keep them off the trail.
Either way, it's a step closer to a dictatorship.

Comey's firing was a shocked to everyone in the FBI.
Welp. I say Trump is fucked by the intelligence community. Just need to call up your reps and Senators to get them to force Trumps hand.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."

In any case, let me put it this way—Cenk is of Turkish descent and denies the Armenian genocide. You really think he just named the group after the colloquialism?
That's what he says. It's up to you whether you want to believe him or not.
The thing about it is that the Young Turks do not exactly have negative connotations in Turkey because of all the brainwashing and omission they do in Turkey especially in regards to the Armenian Genocide. The Young Turks are heroes to the Turkish population. If you look at the polls, only 9 % of Turkish people would label it a genocide and apologize for it.
