Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

An organization called Citizen's Oversight
after many delays won a case proving Election Audit Fraud in San Diego county. The central person who was breaking the law in the case was Michael Vu who in the past had been convicted for this kind of fraud in Ohio during the 2004 election. They've proven that he did this both in the primary and the general election. Having won the case they're pressuring the board of supervisors, and his Chief Administration officer to either urge Michael Vu to retire or have him fired.
They're thinking of appealing to apply the case to other counties in California, because San Diego county is the second largest county in state, and the other counties (they say) tend to follow the vote that they have. They're also working on an open ballot initiative to get ballots scanned and put online to make these audits easier and less expensive. They're raising money to get new equipment to do this (because the equipment the counties use are extremely out of date), and apparently Google has reached out to them and offered to host the digital ballots online for free.

Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.Sean Spicer grilled by NBC Correspondent over Tweet about Muslim "Ban"
. The Trump administration is lying so much that the lying is starting to not work.
That's terrific news in my opinion.

@Capsase: Yep. We basically need another Obama.
I don't think we should bank on Trump messing up so much that a flawed candidate will defeat him effortlessly. They need to basically be the whole package (charismatic, sensible, young, targets the right issues in exactly the right way, etc).

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.~Link To The Future: Not one website. You'll need to check out the various legislature websites. This appears to be the California one
, for example.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo, on a scale of 1-10, how hopeful should I be that democracy will prevail? How likely do you all think it is that the opposition will be silenced, that protesters might be fired upon, or that any form of opposition will be rendered completely useless. Because I'm seriously wondering if I should take my Masters in Library Science in Canada instead, despite the fact that it'll likely cost me several tens of thousands of dollars to do so.

Blaming enemies is work. Movies are fun!
I'm done trying to sound smart. "Clear" is the new smart.
