Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Well, "tank the US economy" is kinda what needs to happen for Trump to lose his cult.
@Rational Insanity: Actually, there is
. According to Reuters, the shooting suspect was Alexandre Bissonnette, a French Canadian college student.
It's Spencer the punched Neo-Nazi, not Spicer the press secretary. If it were Spicer then that would be the official public WH take on it and that it would be deplorable. Now, they probably already think that anyway, but not publicly.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonSomething we need to remember: Trump was elected under freakish circumstances, and he’s not running against Hillary Clinton any more. His first week was a combination of grotesque incompetence and overtly fascistic gestures like putting Steve Bannon (described accurately this morning in the Times as a “right-wing agitator” with no other qualifications for the position) on the National Security Council.
Trump is also utterly incapable of tolerating criticism. For a narcissist of his magnitude, the current outcry against him among the public and in the media inflicts the sort of grave psychic injury that’s difficult for a less twisted person to comprehend.
He's vulnerable. The left is mobilized and these protests need to continue, with open defiance and mockery of him and his. And we damn well tell our Democrats to stand with us. We are dealing with a President who is illegitimate, the second choice of the American people and who has never been a popular candidate.

RoguePOTUS: Expect an anti-LGBT Executive Order by the end of the week.
Blue Feed, Red Feed - See Liberal Facebook and Conservative Facebook, Side by Side
, by the Wall Street Journal. I actually saw a news saying Trump's first week has been great: "just listen to his critics."

That's part of the scariness: he has so far only gone after popular targets, increasing the "othering" of our society, but the true effects of his idiocy on his key white constituency won't be felt for months or years.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Obama has issued a statement (his first since leaving office) in support of the protests.
