Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

"Cheeto" refers to his orange-hued spray-tan skin color (Cheetos are a popular cheese snack renowned for their orange dye that stains hands and mouth when eaten), and "Benito" is a reference to Benito Mussolini, the fascist Italian dictator.

"Cheeto"; because his skin is orange (like cheetos). "Benito", because his mannerisms and cult of personality are similar to Benito Mussolini's.

The auto industry is particularly iconic in terms of the public's perception of the collapse of American industry, thanks to brown people (and not automation).

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Re: whether people who voted Libritarian supported Trump: it's somewhat of a crapshoot but they tend toward having an anti-authoritarian streak (at least the saner ones I know). It would depend on how much their sense is overwhelmed by the hard-on for deregulation.
As far as the military is concerned though, that 50-50 statistic was from before the election. I don't think we have any idea what it is now.

Oh, and as near as I can tell, the Judicial Branch is still gone from the Orange House website. That is both terrifying, not not getting nearly enough attention.
Yeah, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say we're under fascist rule now.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."It is rather darkly amusing how the outcry against Obama's "big government intrusion into our personal liberties" has fallen silent when someone who actually does those things takes center stage.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"There's an inappropriate ad in the ad servers with a picture of Obama and the text "Raising food prices on his way out. Stop him!"
Quite frankly, if the price of food rises, it'll be because of that damned tariff on Mexican produce, as well as a general tariff on parts used in farm equipment.
Ah, but those people aren't white, see. "Fuck them got mine" at its finest.

Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI wouldn't say America is fascist. Actual totalitarian regimes make Trump look downright pleasant.
Leviticus 19:34Actually, the Judicial Branch page is back up
. For, y'know, all that's worth.

Seriously. These things don't happen on the flip of a switch. They happen because not enough people dig in their heels and resist. And the "it's not so bad" attitudes is exactly what causes people to fail to resist.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youPeople are being asked whether or not they like Trump at the border. Journalists are being arrested, scientists are being silenced, governmental purges are being both enacted and planned, freedom of speech and assembly is being endangered, elections are being rigged...
Everyone can tell which way the wind's blowing now. Fascism faced with staunch opposition is still fascism. People warned us that we were going to be under authoritarian rule as of inauguration day, and they were right. The only real question remaining is how successful the new regime will be in implementing that rule.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Can the Free American Empire at least stay away from the War Plan Red national focus, please?
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Guuuuh why does this website think I'm some sort of hillbillly facist? I'm not interested in Ranger trucks, and I'm not interested in "Stopping Obama" from doing anything, Tv Tropes Adserver!
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youDonald seriously doesn't know how our immigration policies work

New Survey coming this weekend!

I've been meaning to ask... What's with calling Trump "Cheeto Benito"?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
