Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I am currently strongly reminded of a scene in Agents of Shield season 3 in which Shield has a lead to Hydra and Coulson says something along the line of: "Big oil? They are really trying to hit all the bad people clichés." (I am paraphrasing here).
Honestly, what next? The Republicans deciding that woman should only get a job if there is no man around to do it?
Apologizing if someone has linked this already, but this is hilarious:
Great way to keep track of the insanity.
Speaking of wall, I get the feeling that construction or not, there will be attempts to sabotage the construction of the wall, I mean, don't you think there will be any opposition to it in any capacity and any form of activity to paralyze the construction?
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. And the storm clouds of resistance keep on gathering...
Curiously, this came from Ms. Manning,
but...
- And proving once again that "states' rights" is bull**** In Trump era, Democrats and Republicans switch sides on states' rights
- More on Shia LaBeouf.
He started a "He Will Not Divide Us" livestream.
- More national parks appear to defy Trump on Twitter
But if President Trump, who has called climate change a hoax, hoped it would silence his critics, he was wrong.
Instead, it was the catalyst for a host of people and parks to follow suit.
Any Democratic traitor who votes yes on the man who wants to wreck the entire nation's voting rights and prosecute civil rights activists ought to be run out of the party on a splintery rail.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."If Feinstein thinks that voting Yes on a Trump nominee is going to earn reciprocal favors from the Republican Congress, she is ... delusional would be a charitable way to put it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Far as I know, yeah. Why?

And agreed - any Democrat who's still trying to cling to some notion of "tit for tat" and "bipartisanship" is an utter fool and should be primaried if we ever get the chance. The Republicans are not a normal party, and have not been for a long time now. You can't work with them - you can only dig in and fight them with everything you've got.
Which the Senate Dems are apparently determined not to do.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Dianne Feinstein has always been a controversial Democrat, although I mostly remember that from questionable gun rights and intelligence laws. She also goes back to a time when Senate confirmations were not as confrontational as today.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman![]()
Let's not go back to that well again. Term limits as a way to shut out congresspeople you don't like is not a sufficient reason.
Here's a list of all the "rogue" twitter accounts of government agencies
.
Also, some advice on contacting your representatives, from a high-level former staffer.
Apparently Republican calls typically outnumber Dem ones several times over - which just goes to show what scrappers the Republicans are, and how weak and passive the Dems have become.

Eh.
i'm tired, my friend
