Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Should be noted, that businesses (if you read the numerous UN documents and others) are not obligated to follow international human rights. Nations are, so the respect for human rights and regulation has to be done by the government and its system. This is a big issue in the security and extractive industries.

As if Trump or his supporters need petty things like "evidence" or "facts" to demonize and judge others.
Honestly, if the Democratic Party were willing to go to such lengths to rig an election, they would have done it in the swing states.
Trump is just dissing California because their voters (including me) metaphorically flipped him off in the voting booth.
Only Trump would be petty enough to question the outcome of an election he won. A sensible politician would count his blessings while taking this as a sign that he needs to extend olive branches to California and New York. Trump is pretty much doing the opposite.

Disgusted, but not surprisedAlso, it's incredibly stupid of Trump to cast doubts about the legitimacy of the election's results since he is the winner.
If we were to take his bullshit seriously, wouldn't we have to do a national recount of votes? Or even an entire do-over for voting?

She's a textbook DINO. She registered Democrat since that's the only realistic way to win in Hawaii.
Oh, and she was one of those endorsed by Sanders. Looking at his other picks, the guy really is a Horrible Judge of Character and/or competence (how pathetic do you have to be to lose the primaries to DWS?).
Gabbard's bullshit may not be as well known as Giuliani's or Rand Paul's, but it still stinks all the same.

It might have worked during the election (or further alienated the anti-establishment voters), but I can't imagine it working out so well during the actual administration.
I for one would have a hard time working with a guy who spent months talking shit about me and demonizing me as an establishment figurehead.
HRC probably would have shut him out like Jefferson did to Burr.

Disgusted, but not surprisedObama: Trump's right, how can we respect the legitimacy of this election if the winner doesn't believe the results? I Say we have a do-over in six months.
A man can dream.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Really, unless it's the EC that was rigged, it seems silly to do a recount alone. Figuring out how it was rigged and reprimanding the people who rigged it(including any who would've done voter fraud) is better. It sends a message that we expect honesty in the voting, regardless of who the winner would be, which gives more respect overall.
Shadow?I feel like Trump isn't scared of a possible vote recount due to his comment that the popular vote gap is made entirely of illegal voters, because I think he ACTUALLY BELIEVES IT. There's no doubt in my mind that the election was heavily rigged in Trump's favor, and there is also no doubt in my mind that Trump has no goddamn idea that it was, because the very concept that he would need to cheat to win in anything, would probably shatter the poor man's fragile ego into a million racist, sexist, pieces.
The White House has kept silent on accusations of actual vote tampering. Unless and until any evidence turns up, let's not play Donald's game and keep dropping "rigged" around.
There is certainly reason to be concerned and I think having the recounts is more healthy than not but I am doubtful they will make a meaningful difference in the result.

But can't people take anyone who denies to serve them to court?
Do not obey in advance.
