Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

You know that half-joke that Trump changes his opinion based on who talked to him last? Lmao.

So there is an ad network with a conscience after all.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot![]()
Well, are you really surprised? We've known about this for a while now. Donald will just say whatever he thinks a random group of people will like at the time, and if it's a subject he doesn't have a strong opinion on, you can probably convince him to flipflop if you sound like you know what you're talking about.
I'm becoming more and more convinced that Trump is going to be a Puppet King, with many people, of varying degrees of evil, fighting for control of the strings.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.I take back what I said earlier — Trump isn't an orangutan. He's an amoeba, with a Retcon memory.

One does not shake the box containing the sticky notes of doom!I don't know if this has been posted here yet, but recently, there was fighting in the house do to some Republicans switching their votes to reject an LGBT rights amendment
.
^^This is why, if you were wondering, Draghinazzo. Because memes are silly and hard to take seriously, and easy to defend as 'just a joke' if they happen to be a bit misogynistic or a bit racist.
^Also, Republicans continue to be shitty. Surprise surprise.

It's been fun.
It's also really easy to sell a meme to the dumb or critical thinking deprived. Leave out all the details and nuance, put the attention grabbing stuff in 60 pt Impact.
And claim you were "just shitposting" when confronted.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot^But those kids will vote someday. And when they do, it probably won't be for the people their friends on 4chan have spent years telling them are responsible for their social failings. Young, angry men are very easy to radicalize online - you just find some frustrated, hurting kid, tell him it's not his fault, and then tell him who is at fault. It seeps in and it spreads like a rot.
It's been fun.The angry white man next door: Hearing out a Trump voter
Summary of the article: A journalist (who, incidentally, is Jewish, and by her own admission one who has relatives that fled Nazi persecution) living in a predominantly Democratic suburb of NYC decided to visit one of her town's very few Trump-supporting residents, on the rationale that you cannot begin the process of fixing divisions within a country if its citizens cannot hear out each other. Long story short, it was rather... interesting, to say the least.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.

Hell, Bannon is more or less a reincarnation of Goebbel.
Disgusted, but not surprised
