Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Why do you think hate crimes have spiked since Trump has come on the stage?
He's been using hate rhetoric to garner support.
Have you seen what they say and do at Trump rallies?
Things like:
BUILD A WALL! KILL THEM ALL!
HANG THAT NIGGER!!!
etc.
Trump making blatant white supremacists his top advisors in his Cabinet is also rather telling.
Bannon in particular is even worse. Trump at least sees the pragmatic value in keeping Ivy-league educated immigrants in the States. Bannon wants them all gone. He even thinks there are too many Asian and Indian CE Os and executives in Silicon Valley, claiming they're an affront to "civic society". Which is kind of personal for me, seeing as how I'm of Asian descent.
Also, it's funny how the people who think that Trump's "some I assume are good people" means he's not really a racist give hell to HRC for her "basket of deplorables" comment while ignoring that she also said that the rest of Trump's supporters are just people who need help and feel left behind by the establishment.

Disgusted, but not surprisedHe said most of them were murderers and rapists and that Mexico was sending their trash. He said he assumed some were good people but the implication was that he's never met or heard of a good illegal immigrant.
My parents started out as illegal immigrants when they crossed the border as children. They weren't rapists or murderers. They weren't trash. Tell me otherwise.
They actually worked hard, became small business owners and are now very wealthy.

But its perfectly okay, because they support trump and its morally righteous to psychically harm those who has a different view point then me. Then again i enjoyed the meltdown when trump won.
What? What is this?Nobody here has even been saying everyone who supports Trump is a white supremacist. However, it's a fact that the people who openly are white supremacists, like David Duke and the KKK, consider Trump to be a hero of theirs and someone who legitimizes their views. And Steve Bannon who is essentially Trump's adjutant has gone on record saying things that are unambiguously racist and anti-Semitic.
