Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I've heard someone mention previously that the right views clinton in much the same way the left views palin. While most people dislike politicians these two bring out a real hatred in the american public.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?But...Sarah Palin is an idiot who clearly had no idea what to say. There's a difference between a laughingstock and a villain. (Saying how each side views the other figure.) Although she actually seems smarter than Trump, if only because Palin appears to know what the President does.

There's a difference between "lesser of two evils" and "not the second coming of Christ." Losing a hundred dollars is bad, losing a million is worse. Meanwhile, while I would like to be given a million dollars, I'll accept being given a hundred. Trump is the "losing a million dollars" option. Hillary is the "gain a hundred dollars" option.

Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.I really wonder how exactly Clinton garnered this much hatred from them. Even when Bill was president and my mom would tell me about the Right's obsessive hateboner for her and how unusual it is. She's a big Hillary supporter and chalks it up to misogyny and fear of accomplished women but I don't think that's all there is to it.

So, the FBI had these emails for weeks, but they can't access the ones belonging to Abedin until they get a warrant. Some are linked to Clinton (because they belong to a close aide...) but there is no direct link to any foul play as of yet.
I'm starting to think that Comey released these for maximum effect on the race. He blatantly violated the Hatch Act.

It was in the letter Harry Reid sent to Comey, posted by Tactical Fox last page. In it, Reid says that Comey has information detailing a connection between Trump and Putin, but has refused to release the information publically despite private calls to do so. This is his main argument for why Comey is deliberately aiding the Republicans — because he refused to release conclusive information that would have damaged the Trump campaign, but immediately released unconfirmed information that would damage the Clinton campaign.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.According to Reid, he does. Or at least a direct connection between Trump's top advisors and Putin's top advisors.
Like I said, Comey's looking at federal prosecution for this. The DOJ is pissed at him for violating their own rules, and the Hatch Act makes what he did illegal. The main question is whether he'll get a pass because the Democrats don't want to look like they're prosecuting him for purely political reasons.
Which would make an amusing contrast to the Benghazi / email witch hunts by the GOP, actually.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

Apparently there's an "Op-Ed" piece on "How Hillary Met Satan" in the Sunday New York Times today.
The brief synopsis I could get (because I'm not subscribed to the digital service) said this. And no, I'm not shitting you.
