Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I actually like Clinton's foreign policy more than Obama's in some areas, she's open about wanting to ally with the Kurds and actually has the guts to stick to things like Obama's failed Red Line, thing is she's smart enough to work out a solution to complicated situations like Syria. She understands how far the bear can be pushed while also understanding how to talk to it.
A return to the days of genocide stopping and nation building that doesn't explode would be nice. Look at all the good the US did in Former Yugoslavia, that's be pretty nice to have happen elsewhere, it'd do good for US opinion around the world to, as you'd actually be acting like the leader of the free world instead of doing what Obama has been doing.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranHey guys. I've been lurking on this thread for weeks now, because it's probably the sanest place to follow the American elections. It's been very interesting.
Have you seen this? Stephen Colbert and Hugh Laurie have done an hilarious bit about dead voters voting for Hilary
.
Edit: My bad, corrected the link.

While I don't disagree with you, let's not ignore the fact that the US acting as agents of the free world has also lead to some pretty serious harm and forceful electing of dictators in order to (hypocritically) mandate democracy.
To say that the U.S. is saintly and can do no wrong is just as faulty as saying we're the Devil who rapes and pillages. No country is perfect; no country is completely evil; they are all a mix, and opinions vary. So let's cut it out with the hyperbole.

Impromptu survey with actual residents of Little Haiti in Florida say Trump is full of shit.
Granted 20 random people is an extremely small sample size but it's still telling that not one of them had a nice thing to say about Trump.
Also apropos of nothing in particular I can't reiterate how pleased I was with Wallace's moderating for the last debate. Especially his impromptu request for closing statements.

Trump national political director 'steps back' from campaign
.
I don't want to assume anything, but...
Oh God! Natural light!![]()
I'm aware. But that situation is not the picture he was painting. He was painting a picture of a perfectly healthy baby being removed on the final day. Which is a C-section, not abortion. Unless you assume the baby was for some reason killed after being removed. In which case it's still not abortion, it's a C-section followed by child murder.

Eric Trump being wrong about something
. In all fairness, while his comment was horrible as usual, the misuse is quite common.
The highlight is still that "alpha" was originally used to describe hens, not wolves.
@Le Monde article: Am I missing something here? Because sending a criminal back to their country of origin sounds pretty fair to me. What I'm about to say is going to sound really cold but those criminals aren't our problem. We're not the country that produced them so why should we be stuck with them?
I get that they're causing a lot destruction back home but that's the thing - if we didn't send them back they'd be causing trouble here.

Quick survey guys.
If you had to pick one, who would you rather lose their Senate Seat: Marco Rubio or John Mc Cain?
New Survey coming this weekend!

I'm tired of the double standards that Trumpets use to judge Hillary. Of course she's not perfect, but damn.
The Trumpets are in for such a rude awakening. I kind of wish that Trump would finally snap and have the kind of freak out that will shatter their perception of him, which I think is a projection of their own egos. They want to get away with whatever they want, like Trump does.
Do not obey in advance.
