Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.

The Sad, Lonley Life of Donald J. Trump
He was a germophobe through most of his life and cut off contact with others, and now I just picture him alone in the middle of the night, tweeting out hatred.
Trump breaks his own world record for being appalling on a weekly basis, but as the campaign sinks to new low after new low, I find myself experiencing feelings of deep sadness and pity.
Imagine if you had to go through a single day without sharing kind little moments with strangers and friends.
Imagine if you had to endure a single week in a hate-filled world, crowded with enemies of your own making, the object of disgust and derision.
You would be a twisted, tortured shrivel, too, and maybe you’d lash out and try to take cruel revenge on the universe. For Trump this is his whole life.
Boo, hoo. He could always withdraw his candidacy and start trying to repair the damage his life has caused.
I'm not sure if that article's meant to evoke sympathy for him. Pity, maybe - to me, it kind of feels like it's outlining the defeat of a rather pathetic villain.
In any case, I've been seeing a lot of talk of Trump creating his own media network out of all of this.
It may be Fox News, but there's some sanity here.
Oh God! Natural light!Shep Smith has always been the Only Sane Man at Fox. Kelly has recently joined his ranks as the Distaff Counterpart in the prime time side, but no surprise that Smith is saying that.

He has five kids and a giant tower with his name engraved on it. He goes to bed at night on top of a giant pile of money in a three-story penthouse with his supermodel wife. I don't think his life is as tragic and pitiable as that writer is trying to suggest.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.No, that part's a turn of phrase. It's something I used to hear a lot back in the 90's.
- "How do you sleep at night?!"
- "On top of a giant pile of money with X supermodels.
"
The point is, I'll feel sorry for Trump just as soon as he stops screwing everyone. He can start by paying taxes and ceasing his efforts to shift the financial burden of the United States onto me and mine.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Trump is in one of the best positions to help people, but instead he focuses on himself.
He could run a charity that helps people in need, rather than taking the money to buy a painting of himself.
He could donate to other charities, help people pay for college, help fund the building of homes for people who need them, give jobs to the homeless, and a million other things.
Instead, he chooses to screw over everyone who's poor, not pay people who do work for him, spread lies and bigotry, and attempt to bar all Muslims from entering the country.
I'll feel sympathy for him when he deserves it.

Trump is a human being that deserves...........**beat**..............not to be dehumanized at least.

I'm willing to feel pity, which - and I think this is an important distinction - isn't quite the same thing as sympathy.
Oh God! Natural light! We should avoid outright dehumanizing Trump, if only to recognize that he represents many of America's worst impulses writ large that anyone is capable of. But I'm not really ready to feel sorry for him until he loses the election for real, and even then...

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."I'm still very curious about what exactly Trump supporters will do, should Trump lose the election. He's started saying that it'll be rigged again, so that makes me wonder what they'll think if Clinton does win (a prospect that grows more likely with each passing day).
Oh God! Natural light! It's not necessarily the fact that Trump doesn't actively go out and use his position to help people that bothers me so much as that he seems to actively make peoples' lives worse in many ways.
Trump could easily just enjoy coasting life with his inherited money, or do business ventures while not treating his employees and everyone around him like utter dogshit. Instead he acts like a complete asshat with the maturity of a 13 year old, having no respect for anyone or anything except himself, and actively contributing to racial and gender anxieties which have a tangible effect on the US's minorities.
If you're gonna not be part of the solution at least try not to contribute to the problem.

I'd add that while this makes sense in cases like the Clinton one (where the accuser is unknown to the family/friends of the accused) the leeway is not something that should be given in cases where people are close to both the alleged perpetrator and the victim.
While going "I've no idea what happened, I'm so confused, both these people are lovely but evidence suggests that they can't both be, my head hurts" makes sense (unless one is going head in sand to ignore obvious evidence) I have trouble being understanding of thouse who are close to both involved parties carrying out any actions to try and get dirt on an accuser, or even an acussed.
