Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

"We are energy independent for the first time" - That's news to me, will be curious to see if that's fact checked.
Edit: "clean coal" as I understand it is basically emissions capture but it doesn't address a lot of other serious problems with coal, particularly the fact that mining it is pretty darn deadly and creates more radioactive pollution than nuclear plants.

That was a bit of a Wham Line, but ultimately meaningless. Does it really matter?
Clean coal is just a PR term for coal burned with the fumes being filtered, while it still spews out CO 2 and other greenhouse gases.
I think Hillary should have mentioned that she is looking for the XL pipeline jobs and the environmentalists concerns as something a politician should be doing.

They seem to think it was a wash, really.
Kind of inclined to agree. Granted, Trump didn't do well, but I don't think this was nearly as catastrophic as the first debate. Hillary did fine, but hardly a knockout blow.
That said, I do think Trump did worse. Stuff like saying that he hadn't talked to Pence and disagreed with him, the "locker room" stuff and deflecting that with shit about ISIS, some of the stuff about Muslims...

Oh God! Natural light! This isn't going to pull Trump out of his spiral, And the full impact of the scandal will only be known by late next week.
Which is frankly all she needed. Trump won;t recover after tonight. Especially if the rumors about Pence are true.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Overall not much of import on either side, nothing that would really sway viewers who weren't already leaning one way or another.
As for the last answer, Clinton praised Trump as a family man and Trump praised Clinton as a Determinator. Sounds in line with their PR aspects.
He's running for Mayor of NYC and has allegedly been at attendance of meetings of white supremacist groups.
Or I might be confusing him with Donald Jr. http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/9/23/13001830/donald-trump-jr-tweets-controversy-alt-right-white-nationalism

Who approved this guy?
