Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

ABC is anchoring the debate IIRC but all the major US networks and the cable news networks are carrying it.

Trump has fallen behind in North Carolina, and the trend is against him as well. NC also has a lot of early voting, so this historically doesn't bode well in October.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Does Politifact have a live tweet fact check this time?
It's weird, I can't get picture on CNN. Guess I'll have to stick to MSNBC.
Oh God! Natural light! If he were a standard Republican (instead of a fanatic and a bigot), I'd honestly feel sorry for Pence.
Unless Kaine utterly implodes, this debate is unlikely to have a negative impact on Clinton. And Trump did well early to.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. And remember that Clinton and Kaine have only 5 days left before she debates Trump again, and they won't spend that time reopening any wounds they get tonight (if they do).
And Trump sounds like he hasn't learned a thing from last time, he might go full Primary on Clinton.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Neither of them was correct on Iraq.
Edit: On to debt. Republicans traditionally dominate on this issue.
Edit: Pence called Kaine a shitty governor. Who jacked up taxes and left his state 2 Billion in the hole. The phrase "War on Coal" comes up a lot.

I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.

The more I hear about Pence, the more I am reminded of Boehner's "Lucifer in the flesh" comment.
Do not obey in advance.
