Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Trump has skin like jello. It keeps it's shape usually, but anything can get through it.
Cosmic Irony #1: With Trump rambling about the supposed sex tape (non-existant that we know of) of that Miss Universe contestant he's been slamming, someone dug up his (non-performing) cameo in a Playboy video
Cosmic Irony #2: The tax return NYT got is being alleged to have been mailed from Trump Tower.
Tax experts hired by The Times to analyze Mr. Trump’s 1995 records said tax rules that are especially advantageous to wealthy filers would have allowed Mr. Trump to use his $916 million loss to cancel out an equivalent amount of taxable income over an 18-year period.
How's THAT for your October Surprise?
New Survey coming this weekend!Trump’s campaign responds to report
The only news here is that the more than 20 year-old alleged tax document was illegally obtained, a further demonstration that the New York Times, like establishment media in general, is an extension of the Clinton Campaign, the Democratic Party and their global special interests.
What is happening now with the FBI and DOJ on Hillary Clinton’s emails and illegal server, including her many lies and her lies to Congress are worse than what took place in the administration of Richard Nixon — and far more illegal.
Mr. Trump is a highly-skilled businessman who has a fiduciary responsibility to his business, his family and his employees to pay no more tax than legally required. That being said, Mr. Trump has paid hundreds of millions of dollars in property taxes, sales and excise taxes, real estate taxes, city taxes, state taxes, employee taxes and federal taxes, along with very substantial charitable contributions.
Mr. Trump knows the tax code far better than anyone who has ever run for President and he is the only one that knows how to fix it.
The incredible skills Mr. Trump has shown in building his business are the skills we need to rebuild this country. Hillary Clinton is a corrupt public official who violated federal law, Donald Trump is an extraordinarily successful private businessman who followed the law and created tens of thousands of jobs for Americans.
It's funnier if you read in Trump's voice.

His social media minders have to sleep too.
The Daily Beast did find a non-profit the Trump Foundation did donate to: An anti vaccine organization
. Of course it's Generation Rescue.

New Survey coming this weekend!Jenny Mc Carthy has an anti-vaxxer organization? Of course she does. >.>
Because who wouldn't want to follow a person who once starred in a squicky skit where she ate some of her own vomit along with some guy?

Do not obey in advance.Ya know when people talk about October surprises they don't generally mean that they drop on the first.
that's 1.4 billion adjusted for inflation btw. Mofo lost a cruise ship and he talking bout how great a business man he is
There are rumors on Twitter that Julian Assange is going to release information on Wednesday that Trump fans are really excited about. My first guess is that it's probably nothing. But still.
Am I the only one who really fucking hates how filthy and dishonorable this election is? Hackers should not have this kind of power.

That's right, boys. Mondo cool.He promised something on Clinton before the debates. He produced nothing.
He has much less leverage than he thinks he does. Well, amongst those who have finished high school at least.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotThe irony with Trump's accusation of the NY Times obtaining the tax documents illegally is that, if they were going to be involved in criminal proceedings, he'd be absolutely right (fruit of the poisoned tree and all that). But in the court of public opinion, it's completely fair game.
And all that said, how the fuck do you lose over $900 million in a single year? Hell, it's even worse in 2016 dollars, where it'd translate to nearly $1.5 billion (at least according to this calculator
) - that's more than the 20 lowest global GDP's!
But how did he have $915 million in income to lose? I'd be very interested in seeing page 14 of that tax filing, as I'm sure a shitload of others are in the wake of this.

"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"Well, there's the minor issue of his using junk bonds to fund the Taj Mahal, while it was cannibalizing and was cannibalized by his other casinos
. After pledging that he would not use junk bonds.
I really, really look forwards to seeing what the citizens of Atlantic City and New York City who were there have to say about Trump's activities in those places. Granted, they'd probably be harassed into hiding if they went public...
Regarding the Clinton emails, an attempt to dig up dirt on those by Trump supporters on Reddit inadvertently confirmed that the deletions in March 2015 were indeed the implementation of a data retention policy that was supposed to have taken place in December 2014
due to posts from the Platte River Networks employee responsible being dug up.
EDIT: Donald Trump owes $360 million in principal to Deutsche Bank
, which is currently facing liquidity issues due to a $14 billion fine.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotDoubtful. That's not the kind of investment that he can gather people to invest in - remember that he is a damn fine salesman when he isn't off his rocker. Prior to getting into politics, he had a legitimate case for Awesome Ego - to the extent that he could bring in shitloads of money on the strength of his name and his cartoony style despite his actual business skills being lacking.
The blame there goes to the people who invested with him.
