Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

@tweet: All I can think of when i see that is There's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me. Put him up against the wall.
@higgs: did you ask him what the relative weight of morality was? Does murder carry more electrons then shoplifting? Or is it located in a tea cup above mars? That's some really tortured logic for sure. Did you try asking what if he found out that objective morality is against him, like if we discovered it is immoral not to eat dead bodies?
@christain conservative: It sounds like a joke to me. Like he's razzing his non-CC fans. Granted it's neither funny or appropriate but the man is 70. I'm surprised he hasn't called black people colored by accident yet.
@polls: Our Father, who art in statistical analysis, 538 be thy name, has Clinton up 5% compared to pre-debate in their polls only forecast. Keep in mind these are only the early-bird polls. Tomorrowish we can expect more to drop and they might revise their numbers up even more.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?http://edition.cnn.com/2016/09/28/politics/fbi-james-comey-election-cyberattacks/
Russia is literally now trying to rig the election.
Hillary better bring the fucking Hammer down next January
New Survey coming this weekend! There's also the danger of turning an abhorrent enemy and all that represent into a martyr. I'm more in the view of following the Tao of Mel Brooks: mockery. His stated goal is to turn Hitler into as much a laughingstock possibly so he and his ideas can never be taken seriously.

There's also compassion for people that care about him, like his friends and family.
What I wish for but am too cynical to expect is that ignorant people would get educated and become better people, but that rarely seems to happen.

What we've seen of his family doesn't entirely inspire sympathy. Can't speak in regard to friends.
Re: Russia - I'm still not sure Trump's more than a useful idiot to Putin, nor that he knows whether or not he is one. A destabilized USA that is unlikely to get in his way are wins for him.
With the latest hacking news though, I'm pondering volunteering to help work the local polling places...well I was pondering it anyway because it's a paid gig and i need it but if there's some way my computer experience would be useful...

I'd prefer if after the election he fades into obscurity. He'll be a footnote in one of those crazy history books and nothing else.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?@Trump and Russia. It isn't so much flirting as grinding against each other in a club.
And I was being sarcastic about mounting Trump's head on a spike outside the White House.
How Short-Termism Saps the Economy
Preach Joe Preach. I like Hillary well enough, but I, and just about everyone I know, would be much more comfortable voting for Biden.
I can't believe how easily alt-right Trump supporters are being taken in by these online polls. Just out of sheer Bile Fascination, I've been checking back on Know Your Meme's Facebook page, and their user base is in complete and utter denial. It's both sad and infuriating. Trump could lose this election by 30 points, and they would still try to rationalize it as him winning.
