Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Progressivism failed the moment liberals started parroting smears against Hillary that first originated with Rush Limbaugh.
We're the conservatives' useful idiots, and we don't even know it.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."John Oliver on the candidate's respective scandals
and why there's no comparison.
Huh
, so we're quietly having the "can congress actually agree not to shut down the government" mini-crisis again. I guess its that time of year again.
Chris Christie is looking at impeachment for his role in the bridge scandal.
Significant because it could mean trouble for Trump's campaign due to his close association with Trump.
From the second article:
Thank you, Based Joisey.
That Christie was not impeached or indicted before now is a travesty, but at least things seem to be finally moving in that direction.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"John Oliver on why equating Trump and Clinton's scandals is dangerous
I dunno... It seems like Trump doesn't really need Chris Christie... After all, anyone could fetch Donald Trump Mc Donalds every day. =P
Wizard Needs Food BadlyI don't think Trump is going to be able to control himself. His impulse control on running his mouth is abysmal. He might try to seem "presidential" for a while, but from that quiz on his website, I don't think he plans on it. And even if he does, Hillary will fact check him one too many times and he might throw out a "Crooked Hillary" or some kind of personal attack that has nothing to do with policy.
I'm honestly not worried about him keeping his cool for very long. I just don't think he's gonna manage that when he's got someone right there calling out his bullshit.
That's right, boys. Mondo cool.exactly. Angry trump that lashes out at everything hasn't actually been in a proper argument yet. Even in the primaries people weren't going full out like tonight.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?I hope Trump loses/he media treats him as losing (which amounts to the same thing) but I think it's unlikely. I think the media (and given poll numbers, a lot of voters too) just really likes the narrative of Clinton grasping defeat from the jaws of victory. I mean I'm still hoping that she will win the debate(s) and presidency, but I doubt it at this point.

I like how Hillary is both a corporate shill and rich hating communist.
