Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I've no intention of being tolerant and accepting of the likes of Pence and his ilk. They're unintelligent, and I'll tell them as much. They're louts, and I'll make sure any of them that adhere to those beliefs know I think that of them.
Let others be kind and good debaters, I don't care to be good or honorable to them.

Clinton was the 11th most progressive member of the Senate during her time there. She opened up the State Department to the LGBT community in a way prior Secretaries had not. Her current platform is one of the most liberal in the history of the country, even factoring for year.
She's only conservative when compared to the most extreme parts of the left-wing.
The reason most people responded to the Trump comment rather than the Clinton one is, of course, because calling the fascist a moderate is objectively more outrageous than calling the progressive a conservative.

Clinton has pneumonia according to CNN.
Oh and Trump is only a moderate in the sense that he wants to combine Nationalism with some elements of Socalism, so kind of Social Nationalist agenda would best describe him.

How are we to assume she isn't also putting a fake mask on as Trump is? She could easily be doing, more easily then Trump in fact. And the fact she has not only lied about a variety of different things before in her career, it only makes it even the more likely.

That could be problem...if CNN et al are stupid enough to make it into a problem.
Trump, of course, is suffering from a variety of exciting personality disorders, yet nobody save Lawrence O'Donnell and (hilariously) Mika Brezinski ever wants to comment on that.
How are we to assume that anybody ever is telling the truth? Might as well go hide under a rock and ignore politics altogether.
Clinton's platform is as progressive as they come. Trump's is so reactionary I'm surprised it doesn't recommend going back to using handaxes and clubs.
Your assumption that Clinton is a conservative is based off a belief that she's lying. The reality of Trump's reactionary positions is in his own platform.

Because we are rational fact based people who structure our belies based on reality and not random baseless assumptions that lack factual backing.

Do you have any proof that she is doing that?

Nope that was you, you said that Trump is faking his horrible beliefs for the benefit of the GOP base, I think he's genuinely a racist asshole and have evidence to back that assessment up.

You stated "we", a very bland and indirect term which I can only guess refers to the entire discussion and everybody participating in it. I had people who did agree with my assumption, so to dismiss Clinton as faking it shows me there is some bias lurking here.

No we didn't. Trump's fascistic, reactionary positions are on display for all to see. He's said the families of terrorists should be executed. He's said he will build a wall. He's said he wants new immigration tests. He's openly mocked the disabled, women, and pick-your-minority. He's openly suggested imprisoning or deporting Clinton if he wins. He's openly suggested having her assassinated if he loses. These are all things he has said.
So me trying to treat each candidate with the same amount of suspicion makes me a "Trump supporter' and a "troll", k.
You are trying to make Trump out to be better than there is evidence for him being, and Clinton worse than there is evidence for her being. You may think that's treating them the same, but it's Trump who benefits more from this little intellectual exercise on your part.
Again, Trump's stated positions are reactionary and even fascistic. Clinton's stated positions are progressive. If you're going to turn around declare that she's more to the right than he is, you'd better have a whole lot of evidence for that.
So—show us the evidence. We're all listening.

If you'd like to dispute the general concencus with facts or an actual argument we're all happy to wait for a bit.
If he's a Trump supporters or not is irelivent, what matters is that he's providing no argument of fact based statements.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranLook, can you prove that Trump's bigotry is just for show, and that Clinton is more conservative than she lets on?
Because all you do is deflect challenges to do just that, and go on about wanting "balance" - if you want balance, then provide some weight.
Oh God! Natural light!

Btw, I noticed not many argued against me calling Clinton a conservative. Anybody wish to discuss?
