Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I knew this would happen. The left and the center can't clear their throat without the media tackling them, but the far-right/conservatives can advocate torture and ethnic cleansing and get away with it.
The "liberal" media is trying really hard to hand Trump this election.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Media corporations are doing what corporations do best: maximizing profits without regards for externalities like climate change, the rise of a proto-fascist demagogue, the rise of a proto-fascist demagogue who claims climate change is a Chinese hoax, ect.

Are we back to our regularly scheduled "random-person-insults-Clinton-in-unfounded-way-and-Fox-responds-with-a-stupid-bullshit-Sanders-hate-boner"?
I didn't think it was that time already.
As for the Trump 9/11 tweet, that's from 2013, why is it being bought up now?

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranOnly thing that would hurt Trump at this point (and even then I'm iffy) is if he said the N-word on national TV or calls her a bitch outright in the debates.
For all the constant bitching you do about my posts, you seem to never address the actual points I make.

Why would that make him an idiot (among many things, arguably)? His base would eat it up.
You're overestimating the journalistic integrity of journalists. They only care about one thing: ratings. They're not likely to change the mind if anyone whose mind isn't already made up.

Do not obey in advance.
What's that all about? I never heard about that.

Oh, THAT guy. >.>
I dearly hope that Troomp wouldn't sink that low.
It could be a good question of how many of them really are, and are willing to admit it. It would be disheartening for someone to proudly proclaim that they ARE a racist, though... and that's why they're voting for you-know-who. Especially since Troomp was totally ineffective and apathetic against rejecting David Duke's support.
Some idiots out there probably are.

New Survey coming this weekend!

And substantive as they are, Clinton's plans are simply more post 2008 style neoliberalism. I honestly doubt Sanders would have been able to effect significant change barring a truly major movement coming together as it did in the 1930s and to a lesser extent during the civil rights era, but Clinton's policy doesn't really make any significant effort to defuse the ticking timebombs in our modern society. Presumably because, insulated as she is in the beltway bubble, such concerns are dismissed as "temporary trends which will reverse themselves in due time" on the rare occasions they come up, as they really don't apply to the economic/military elite which tend to dominate the conversation in Washington.
