Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Regarding gay rights, I know he was a proponent of allowing gays to serve freely in the military, and to prevent businesses from refusing to hire or serve gay people, for example. And he absolutely despised the Religious Right. I'm pretty sure that he referred to Jerry Falwell and others of the same ilk as charlatans and scammers, IIRC.

| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |US District Court rules that North Carolina's HB2 is unconstitutional
. HB 2, for those who are unaware, is the transgender bathroom discrimination bill.
For those interested, the ruling appears to be saying "I'd really, really like to call this bill constitutional, but I have to obey a higher court precedent."
So while watching youtube video zombies, someone in comment section makes Trump wall joke which of course leads to flame war about politics
Which confuse me since it sounds rather insane accusations of Clinton being worse because they are apparently mass murderer, supported by gun companies(I'm kinda surprised that someone who supports Trump finds problem with that .-.) and have few months to live and etc
Thing I'm wondering this time, where the hell people are getting these insane conspiracy theories from anyway? Is it just trolls or do they have basis on something?

With conspiracy theories, you run into a tautology problem (I think that's the right term).
Basically, conspiracy theories tend to be about Villain Sues that are dedicated to covering their own tracks. This means that any evidence against a conspiracy theory can be interpreted as part of the conspiracy, where as any evidence for it is a minor slip-up on the part of the conspirators.
Leviticus 19:34Re: HB 2: So we're coming back to the fact that America is only "the land of the free" if you're sufficiently WASP?
"Yup. That tasted purple."Been that way since independence was declared. We're working on it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Land of the mostly free and brave from their drone cams doesn't have the same ring to it.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? So, that "everything positive" medical report
? It was written in all of 5 minutes.
Seems like Melania Trump has hired the lawyer Peter Thiel hired to bring down Gawker to silence any and all allegations that the modeling agency she worked for when she first came to the US doubled as an escort service
. Ladies and gentlemen, our defenders of free speech and the last bastion against the cancer that is political correctness.
Breitbart works out of the basement of a Florida mansion owned by an Egyptian Muslim millionaire
. Said millionaire was written about oddly glowingly despite Breitbart's general Islamophobia (and, really, phobia of anyone to the left of The Daily Stormer). KICK THEM OUT! KICK THEM OUT!
And because I can't be bothered to give his blog more clicks, Scott Adams compared Hillary chewing out the alt-right to treason. Yes, really. What is in his food/water/air supply?
/b/tard yells "Pepe" when Hillary chewed out the alt-right, is escorted from the event by the Secret Service
. Well, it's nicer than what I would have done to him.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotThe whole thing with bashing Melania really bugs me. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see her in the White House, but all the criticism against her boils down to slut-shaming. So what if she worked as a nude model or an escort?
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - Silasw
What I've seen is that by doing so, she violated US immigration laws as she was there on a tourist visa. It's not about what her day/night job is, but rather the implications of her day/night job. That is, a violation of US immigration laws. And now, trying to silence critics.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotEven that wouldn't be such a big deal if Trump's primary platform position were not the absolute opposition to illegal immigration, making Melania's dodgy status in that regard paint him as a hypocrite.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"![]()
Not to mention that, ethical concerns aside, escort work is generally illegal in the US, at least outside of the "girlfriend experience" types which is still legally shady as hell.

"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?".....

New Survey coming this weekend!Dwayne Wade's cousin was shot and killed while out with her baby. Dwayne Wade called for greater gun control measures so this never has to happen to someone else, while Trump stood up and said this is why black people will vote for him.
Yet another case of Trump applauding himself in the wake of a tragedy.

Goldwater famously quipped that one did not need to be straight to be in the army, just able to shoot straight.
