Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

It's kind of hard to not talk about one of the candidates for president, so saying we should talk about Trump less is kind of... ignoring the purpose of the thread, actually. So really, not sure why you would suggest that. If you have something you want to talk about, actually post about it instead of complaining about the rest of us actually staying on topic.

Whether Obama is viewed as incompetent or an evil mastermind depends on the person's mood.
Leviticus 19:34Congress receives FBI notes from Clinton interview:
First two paragraphs:
A spokeswoman for the Republican-led House oversight panel said staff is reviewing documents that are classified as secret. Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the intelligence committee, said in a statement that the panel received "FBI witness interview reports, including that of Secretary Clinton's interview, along with other materials from the FBI's now closed investigative file."

So a cursory reading of the twentieth amendment seems to indicate that the Republicans should be so lucky to have a chain of events set in motion by President-Elect Clinton's disqualification for the office. Forgive me if this is wrong, but section 3 seems to indicate that Kaine would actually take up the office until we elected a new president. That would mean that if Trump had been proven a loser, they could publicly kick him to the curb and roll again since the dice had fallen off the table. Then again, he could parley it into a gloating spree about crooked Hillary and the rigged election.

"I have no fear, for fear is the little death that kills me over and over. Without fear, I die but once."Wouldn't the speaker of the house be next in line? Obama would just cease to be president and Paul Ryan would take over.

You are interpreting that wrong... What that particular section means basically is that in case the President-elect is dead or incapacitated before Inauguration Day, the Vice-President-elect will become President-elect or acting President-elect until Inauguration Day in which the Vice-President-elect becomes Vice-President and thus becomes President or acting President. Basically, if Hillary Clinton is elected but cannot make it to Inauguration Day, Tim Kaine becomes President on that day.
Crossposting from the Men's Issues thread:
Actual rape advocate Roosh V is claiming that Hillary getting elected will result in a "techno-matriarchy" and ban talking to women in public
. "Techno-matriarchy" sounds like a good name for a nightclub. Or an EDM project.
As to the rest:
I saw Trump talking in Wisconsin on CNN. I didn't listen to the actual crap, but one of the commentators said that tone doesn't matter, then started talking about how Obamacare is a failure. That somehow proves Trump is the best option.
I had a lot of hope for CNN calling Trump on his bullshit after the whole "Obama founded ISIS" thing. Then this. Do they normally do that? Circulate the baseless lies without bothering to disprove them? (Caveat: I was eating dinner and left shortly after, so it's possible they did disprove it a few minutes later. But they didn't seem to be doing that.)

Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.@Techno-Matriarchy: That sounds...kind of sexy.
Also: I just laughed for like 2 or 3 minutes straight. Though, to be fair, I find the sound of my own laughter funny.

Leviticus 19:34I feel that, at a certain point, you have to cut off the stupid and stop listening to it lest it infect your brain.

They've been in a downward spiral ever since MH370 disappeared. It's probably their way of "not editorialising". Even if it's actively harmful.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotHasn't CNN been on a downward spiral since Sandy Hook? I remember y'all talking about them giving out false info just so they could be at the top of it. Or was that just the media in general at the time.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."So, ugh, voted in the Alaska Congressional and State Legislature primaries today. Did not feel happy.
The Alaska legislature is essentially noncompetitive to the point where a lot of districts are walkovers. My Senate district wasn't (in the primary), but I still had to vote with a clothespin on my nose because both candidates are equivocating about raiding the Permanent Fund (which nobody in Alaska wants, except for the legislature and the oil companies).

I thought the Medal Of Honor 2010 Taliban controversy was a bit over the top, but I figured nobody would try a political attack on military families, and Gold Star ones to boot. Enter the GOP circa 2016.
There is now a Breitbart staffer running Trump's campaign
. Ethical.
Rick Perry said the Kahn's struck first blow against Trump and are not above criticism in return.
@Garcon: I've personally gotten the impression that Trump's gotten bored of electioneering and is just phoning it in at this point. Honestly, my impression is that he's been phoning it in since near the end of the primaries.
Which is great, because if he was taking this seriously rather than treating it like a game, I have a feeling he might actually win.

You know, I haven't been participating in this thread as much because the only topic is Trump, and it's so one sided that I don't feel I have anything to contribute. We should talk about Trump less.
