Why, may you ask? Well, here's the deal:
1) Governor of Missouri repeatedly cuts funding to public defenders office.
2) Head of Public Defenders office finds law that says he can draft in any lawyer registered with the state bar to act as defender in a case.
3) Governor of Missouri is a qualified lawyer, registered with the state bar.
The link is the letter to the Governor informing him of a case he is being obliged to stand in. What his response will be is unclear.

In "peopel frequently get this wrong" questions, is it the governor's job to decide on who gets funding? Mostentimes such decisions belong to the legislature, and the Missouri governor has only limited veto authority if memory serves.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe letter certainly very pointedly blames the Governor himself, and cites local legislature and a couple of amendments to the constitution explaining his position. He might as well have added "P.S. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on" because he's really not holding back as it is.
It's apparently the first time the law as been used to draft a lawyer and it's been done very very pointedly.
Another GOP Congressman says he can't support Trump and will write in a candidate.

I'd like to see the Libertarian party come up with foreign policy that can't be described with this comic
.
Also, their environmental policy involves literally fucking the environment while ignoring climate change's role in the Arab Spring
.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotRe: The Missouri governor not affecting the budget:
What is the current state of Missouri's Congress? Do they just go along with whatever the governor wants? Or is it the other way around and the governor just rubber stamps whatever comes out?
Either could contribute to making the governor directly responsible for the public defender situation. The letter also refers to his vetoing a bill that might have helped.

From what I know, Missouri's legislature (one uses that formulation to refer to them, not "Congress") is controlled by the usual crowd of midterm election idiots. Which is why I asked about their role vis-a-vis the Governor's one.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIncidentally it's an assault case he's been called for. Needless to say he's ignoring requests for comment.
The logic "if you're against flag burning, you should be against foreign intervention" is stupid even by the low standard of image macros.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I wonder how history will see Obama. He's gotten a lot of hatred over the past eight years but he's made some great strides. It wouldn't surprise me if his term was Vindicated by History. Especially if the Republicans keep shooting themselves in the foot over Civil Rights.
RE: Missouri Governor
According to the text of the letter, the Governor vetoed a bill that was meant to give more funding to the Public Defender's office 7 years ago - and in spite of promising to help alleviate the "significant stresses" the office was facing in the wake of that veto, he and the legislature instead started cutting the budget... all while keeping the budget for the Governor's Office nice and healthy. Again, this is from the text of the letter the Public Defender Director sent in, but if that's legit, then fucking wow - people have gone on strike for less grievous offenses than that.
And in good news, that "biased" judge Trump complained about ruled that Trump will be standing trial himself on charges of fraud and racketeering in relation to Trump University.
The court date is apparently being set for just after the election, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out if (god forbid) Trump somehow wins.

TRUMP: I've said it before and I'll say it again, LOCK HER UP! I mean, it's like said, I mean, anyone as crooked as Crooked Hilary should stand trial and, yes, anyone should stand trial for offenses they may have made in the eyes of the law, because let me tell ya', they should stand trial and that is a fact; you can quote me on that.
JUDGE: Okey-dokey! {Puts Trump on trial and locks him up sues his arse out of house and home, to the point where Trump wishes he were locked up just so that he'd have a place to stay.}
TRUMP: ...You know, I may have to rethink some of the things I've been saying for the last year or so...
Seriously though, as good as this news is, it'd be even better if it happened before the election. Let Trump go on trial and lose a good chunk of his fortune, and then see just how he handles the election. Heck, he might even finally drop out just because he'd have no other option but to drop out. That's if he loses of course, but even still, just going on trial should be enough to further tarnish his good name, and I guess that's the best we can hope for unless they decide they can't wait to give Trump what for and move it up.

Capitalist pigdogs were always killing me till I made canada a tax shelter. Pissed off the socialists something fierce but I was pretty much maxed out favor with them before so I still grabbed 98% of the vote and paid off the debt by election 5 (flat tax OP plz nerf)
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?
