Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

The thing about the media is that they like to make invoke You Can Panic Now. They're either unaware of or don't care about the negative effects this has already had on our culture.
Leviticus 19:34Someone earlier mentioned disdain for the non-violent far left, and it made me chuckle.
I've posted on many different boards in my near 40 years on this rock, and I've always found two things to be universal to them:
1. Newton's Laws aren't just for the physical realm, it seems that they exist in cyberspace as well
2. There is no exception to #1
President Clinton vs. Trump would also be a sight to see.
Secretary Clinton is a very solid speaker, mechanically she does not have that many flaws. Her biggest issue is that she's just not "Politician Charismatic". She'd be great as a University President, or the Chairman of the Board. Something with a very formal, stilted, delivery being expected. It's the arm's distance speaking style that just can't let you be drawn in, something that both 42 and 44 excel at avoiding.
@DWS News

I'm not too worried about Stein, minor parties typically poll better than they perform on election night.
The threat to disrupt the campaign or start trying to deregister Democrats is a bit more worrisome.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.
