Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

1. Reddit will now have a deluge of new Trump voting users. That might have a bit of an effect.
2. Reddit leftists will spam and destroy the thread. Maybe youll thank the Behrnie Brehs for once.
3.this will be ugly and reveal to the wide wholesome family just how horrid the heart of darkness that is called internet politics is.
4. I hope the DNC will exploit this Shitomancy for 'epic lolz' as the kids call them.
Trump has the ego that he might do it himself, while live tweeting.
And I'd be shocked if Reddit crashed, it's a huge site, it'd be like crashing us, Facebook or Wikipedia with raw numbers.

Reddit AM As require "proof" that you're who say you are (such as a post from a verified Twitter feed) though subedits that aren't the official AMA one may or may not have as stringent standards.

Reddit crashes: They return 503 errors pretty commonly. What I think will happen is that the worst comments will be scrubbed quickly before CNN/MSNBC/al-Jazeera/BBC get to screenshot them. And then the scrubbing will get noticed, and then the fun starts.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot... Why isn't that shitstain of a moral degenerate not locked up in a prison? Promoting the legalization of a serious crime despite overwhelming consensus among the population that it's a crime should be a crime in itself!
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Number 2 seems to be the likeliest, the anti trump sub Enough Trump Spam became a trending sub and they more or less said they're gonna go swarm it with stuff about Trump's unreleased tax returns and how he's a russian spy. And since I'm talking about that sub, here is a mass of links they compiled if anyone needs to show evidence of how shitty the orange facist is
.
Americans take freedom of speech very seriously. There are a number of crazy American nuts that do this kinda of stuff, I suspect that several of them would be arrested if they tried giving such speeches in say Canada or an EU country.

That's probably not a good idea. It's possible for something to be considered a serious crime that should be legal. For example, interracial marriage was not a popular idea 150 years ago in many places.

Leviticus 19:34Campaigning for the legalization of a crime can be a good thing (such as making interracial marriage legal).
But it can also be a bad thing (like, you know, rape). Unfortunately, if we want the right to try and protest unjust laws, we can't put specific laws under the bubble of "do not protest".

Usually I'd say "fuck the ADL", but they've got a good point this time.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
