Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Honestly I think we should sticky a message here that just repeats "daily polls are unreliable. Stop panicking" because every day in here someone grabs a daily and gets super depressed.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?
X3 Sander's himself was the one who said the offical "I move that we declare Hillary Clinton our nominee".
It's not always the same organisations doing the polls, but also its good for clicks.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ Cyranyeah, most polls are actually weekly, its just that so many do them, that it can be daily for the viewer.
More peculiar is that the various pollsters use different samples of the population to determine the vote, so you get craziness of comparing polls of 800 people versus polls of 1000 people, therefore with wildly varying margins of error.
This is the sort of thing that annoys the hell out of me
. You haven't been silenced. And for God's sake, you're not Robin Hood.
Yeah, I have no idea what point he's trying to make. Is this a Bernie thing?
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Apparently the Bernie or Bust people (or a group of them) walked out after Bernie moved to confirm the nomination and have moved to a sit-in sort of thing in one of the journalist tents.[http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/sanders-supporters-walk-off-convention-floor-blame-rigged-system-for-his-loss/

Re: Robin Hood: "Steal from the rich and give to the poor". Or, an anti-establishment figure to be emulated by the far left and condemned by the far right. (I've seen the later as the basis of one of Ayn Rand's essays.)

The "silenced" thing is a diehard Bernie supporter/PUB thing. They're determined to insist that they've been banned from exercising their right to free speech because they were told not to be disruptive.
They seem to think that by doing this they'll draw lots of attention to their "cause". In truth they're just making themselves look very silly.
Some of them did leave. The rest are trying to draw as much attention to themselves as they can so that they can try and get people to buy that they've been silenced and either write-in Sanders or vote for Stein.

So there was no major attempt to make Sanders the nominee? Good.
