Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Well, apparently Assange says he's got a Smoking Gun that will "provide enough evidence" to see Hillary Clinton arrested
.
If this had been a month or two ago, I might be skeptically optimistic, as it'd pave the way for a Sanders nomination - but as things stand now, I'm deeply worried.
"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"
Eh, Trump's gotten close to that threshold for me - I tend to reserve that level of vitriol for people that really deserve it, and his advocating for war crimes definitely put him up near Hitler-levels for me.
Not if Trump had his way with it, we wouldn't!

Exactly, the actual interview is from June: http://www.itv.com/news/update/2016-06-12/assange-on-peston-on-sunday-more-clinton-leaks-to-come/
If that's the leak he was talking about, I'm underwhelmed to say the least. Still, we've got about 4 months to go, that worries me.

To what end though? Is he an anarchist, or just full of himself?
Question: Why do Trump supporters blame immigration for economic problems, when it's pretty obvious that it's people like Trump and the Republicans who are the problem? There's a growing gap between rich and poor, and those same rich people seem to think that we should work for nothing in order to finance their huge paychecks, completely ignorant of the problems that will cause down the line.
Not to mention countries with low birthrates should really be encouraging immigration; it's not like younger native citizens can support the entire weight of the economy as older generations retire. I mean I don't want to reduce all of it to "racism and xenophobia" because I'd like to think more of humanity; but it's getting really difficult not to.

It's the age-old Never My Fault attitude looking for a scapegoat, combined with a lot of willful ignorance and outright stupidity.

Yeah, Pence is almost as bad as Trump. A religious fanatic to the core, that one.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.
